Meet Lauren Grier | Owner and CEO of The Curious Plate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Grier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Knowing that I won’t always be successful. Sounds a little counterintuitive, but let me explain. I know that I can’t win every battle. Spoiler alert….life isn’t linear. The goal for me as an entrepreneur is to stay in the game. For example, my food photography continues to be my highest form of ROI in my business. Was I upset I didn’t get the ad campaign? Sure. Even though I didn’t win the battle, I was still able to stay in the game doing what I love, which is creating beautiful food.
Knowing that I won’t always be successful has given me a solid mental foundation that has helped me be patient, not get burned out, and stay agile when those setbacks require me to pivot.

What should our readers know about your business?
Important lessons I have learned:
You CAN teach yourself how to cook, but be open to learning.
Playtime in the kitchen, and taking risks, is always valuable
To cook well, you must boldly follow your senses and embrace curiosity
There is no other thrill like creating something from nothing

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Denver is a city that will keep you busy from sun up until sun down. Each neighborhood offers so much variety, character, and culture that deciding where to go can be tricky. However, a few of my favorite things to do in the Mile High City:
– Take a walk around confluence park in Lohi
– Brunch at Sassafras for the low country fixings
– Check out a new exhibit at the Denver Art Museum
– Make a pit stop at Carl’s Pizza in West Highlands. Best pizza in the city.
– Explore the grounds of Denver Botanic Gardens
– Grab a cocktail at El Five
– Take in a sweet treat at Little Man Ice Cream

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my co-host of the Fresh Air Retreat, my business spirit guide, and my fellow blogging bestie, Liz of The Lemon Bowl! Thank you for aways being a positive light and showing me that anything is possible.
