We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Grube and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
This is the first book in a series as part of my vision for the world. I want to bring mindfulness to children. As a previous elementary school teacher, I saw what was missing in the classroom and after my journey through a Gratitude Leadership training, I was even more fired up to get a positive message out there! This book is meant to be a keepsake. I ask the children to use their imagination and draw what they are most passionate about. It is my vision to have the book be given back at graduation or in college when society may have changed their views, they can remember their true hearts desires. All ages actually have fun reading the book and wanting to capture their desires. It is such a fun read aloud with a great message.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am traditionally an elementary school teacher, but got frustrated in public education with poor quality learning. Upon leaving a classroom, I was introduced to a virtual selling company that started to open my eyes to new opportunities, more flexibility, growth, and shifting my mindset to know that I can create a life that I can dream that doesn’t have to be confined to 4 walls and a 9-5. From there I continued to take myself on and grow and educate in my new entrepreneurial sector and fell in love with brainstorming, making ideas come to life, and filling needs that I saw in my community. With the flexibility of my schedule I was still able to work with children, make a greater impact in my community, write my book and read in classrooms around Denver, Longmont, and Orlando. I now feel that I make a greater impact than within the walls of my classroom. The biggest challenge and piece that I am proud of is my non-traditional path. I know that most people get stuck or complacent because it is secure and easy. I have had many ups and downs, challenging days, days that I questioned my decisions and wanted to quit, but I have learned so much about myself and that, like my book says, when you “braid your ideas with determination, you can be ANYthing!” I love passing that message to children and adults! Lessons that I have learned, letting go of my ego and what society says. Focusing on and appreciating those that support me versus dwelling on those telling me that you cannot. My faith has helped me with surrender and that I have a purpose to share my growths and learning with others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to RMNP, Red Rocks, Golden, and Boulder (Chautauqua park) – for amazing hikes and to see the beauty of our state! Even Colorado Springs for Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak. I also love walking down Pearl Street and getting ice cream at Kilwins or gelato at Gelato Boy. We could also stop at Snooze for brunch. I really love the Lohi/Highlands area for Happy Hour and dinner. Some favorites are El Camino, El Five – for the view, Linger, Postino and Sweet Cow. We would also go up to Breckinridge at least for the day, my favorite little ski town. Stop at Lake Dillon to rent a boat and spend the afternoon on the water.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The book came to fruition quickly because I was in a training and had the push and support to complete it before the end of the program. I had an amazing coach, Thomas, who really helped me push back my fears and limiting beliefs and share this beautiful message. Along with the support of family and friends it came to life! My younger brother and I played this imagination game when we were younger and it was the beginning of the idea. My sister helped getting this book to print with quality imaging and computer skills. And with the support of friends who shared the book and got me in to many schools and read and reach thousands of students
