We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Lajas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I am in my element when i am in a creative headspace. I am the best possible version of myself in the midst of my art and that is the version of me i want to be day in and day out. That is the version that can best support and inspire the people around me and i won’t settle for anything less. You are given the gifts you have for a reason, don’t let them go to waste because it’s an unorthodox career

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do a lot! I am primarily a singer/ songwriter. I have been singing since i was a child and found my gift of songwriting in my early 20s. I am an author. I just submitted my first book for publishing and it should be everywhere in late September. Are you even a millennial if you don’t have a blog? I also started my media company in early 2021. I started off with my own dating podcast and Youtube Series and hope to add more projects as i grow. I am working on a few screenplays as well and have gotten great feedback on my ideas which is a longer term goal of mine. To see one of my screenplays on the big screen would be an absolute dream come true. Basically, i am a storyteller and utilize every medium to tell stories. I also want to create a platform for others to feel comfortable sharing their own story. My biggest accomplishment is definitely my first book. It took a lot of discipline and personal growth to see that project to fruition and i hope to set the tone for others around me who want to do the same. I hope my book starts some much needed conversations concerning children in foster care, as i, was one of those children. It coincides with what it going on with women’s rights. It was definitely a learning experience for me to write in length about a part of my life i don’t typically share with people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a transplant myself and am still finding new spots it seems like every time i leave my apartment! But the one place that takes the cake for me would have to be Red Rocks. The views are breathtaking. We would have to see a show there at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Stay around that area and do a beginner’s hike at Maxwell Falls. A little paddleboarding at the reservoir in Morrison/Evergreen! And end our mini getaway to the mountains in Idaho Springs. There we’d relax in either the mud pool or natural hot springs they have in their caves.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my 8th grade choir teacher, Mrs. Rhoda Wolfe for taking a chance on me and letting me join the 8th grade Show Choir! You gave me a purpose and that made all the difference in my life and helped me right the ship. The rest is history!
