We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Kinross Wright. Hair, makeup Artist, Stylist, And Photographer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie kinross wright., what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I feel like doing something I’m passionate about and showing that to my kids is something I want them to do for themselves. I take them to work with me to a job I love. A job where I get to be creative and be around like minded people and I want them to see that’s possible. I want them to follow their passions like I have. And that career goals and success can come from many different paths.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I am one of those people who took their fav hobbies and career choice and mixed them all into their main hustle. I am a hair and makeup artist by trade and have been doing that professionally since about 2009. I love being creative and working with my hands and so hair was a great jumping off place for me. I feel like my passion really began to grow when I started doing a lot of weddings. I began participating in photo shoots and styled bridal content days and saw the whole process of what it took to create these shoots and wanted to be more involved than hair and makeup. I happened to have a lot of friends who were photographers who knew I liked to play with clothing ideas meshed with fun hair and makeup and we started creating shoots for fun. That slowly snow balled into hiring me to style clients and content days and eventually I picked up the camera and began participating in a shoot in its entirety. I just moved back to Colorado after 11 years living out of state so am sad to have to start over with my client base but I learned alot of what not to do as a business owner so have a unique opportunity to regroup and start fresh with all of the lessons I’ve learned.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my fav days ever here is going into evergreen walking around the lake,m and then getting beaujos pizza and Baskin-Robbins after. I lived in evergreen when I was very little and we used to get masking Robbin’s and sit out back by the river and watch the ducks. It’s one of my fav memories and evergreen is beautiful and not too far away from where I live. I also feel like people who aren’t Colorado natives really appreciate going to red rocks so seeing if there’s a show there and if not just bringing them to hike around. And then eating at Tony rigatonis in Morrison is incredible! Also Boulder is a must I love chataqua park and of course walking pearl street. There’s just so much to do here I’m so happy to be home in Colorado

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh my gosh I’m just so thankful to the creative community and other people in my industry for all their support. I was so embraced by fellow photographers and encouraged to learn and had so many mentoring sessions with friends and them being so generous with their time has been so amazing for me. I also love just jumping in and trying and putting you self in the middle of what u want to do no matter how scary it is. I started my career in the salon behind a chair doing cuts and colors and then lots of weddings. I loved that part of my career but now working in photography and getting to add my experience with hair and makeup and a love of clothing has really brought it full circle. I was really nervous to shift my career in this way but if it scares you I often feel like that’s a sign to go for it. If I’m nervous it’s bec I care. And that it’s ok to fail and to want to do better next time bec that’s how we grow! And to always remember it’s ok to ask for help and if u see someone u admire reach out to them they may offer mentorship’s.
