We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Nebesniak Nebesniak and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lexi Nebesniak, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by the little things in life. After being involved in a terrible car accident my outlook on life shifted drastically. I quickly realized all of the things that I took for granted. Once I was able to get back on to my own two feet, I knew that I wanted to spend everyday living my best life. I was inspired by everything around me because I no longer took them granted. The little things like the smell of morning coffee, walking in nature, gardening, dancing, live music, time with loved ones, etc. We spend so much time wrapped up with the things that do not matter at the end of the day. What truly matters is looking within yourself and doing what makes you happy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In November of 2019 I was involved in a terrible car accident. I broke my right hip, I had a compound fracture to my left tibia, fibula, broken SI joint, and compound fracture in my right arm. I spent a month in the hospital, after I was released I spent the next 4 months in a hospital bed. I slowly started to learn how to walk again and get my life back. In September of 2020 the hardware in my leg broke and I had to have two more surgeries and spent another 16 weeks unable to walk. The healing process was brutal and life changing. Before my accident I was working in events and bartending. On my feet ALL of the time. After my accident, I was not able to work for two years, I spent 90% of my time in bed because I was in so much pain and unable to do everyday things. This is when things shifted for me. I knew I had to find a career that would work with my new reality of having a disability. I started my journey in Wellness Coaching. I attended Red Rocks Community College and it was the best choice I could have ever made. I learned so much of how to heal my own mind and body, that I wanted to help others do the same. I started a small business called Kiss the Earth, which I still run part time. After I was better I really wanted to get out of the house and switch paths. I loved working with people so much that this shifted into Real Estate for me ( quite the transition, I know) I realized that the most important thing to me was helping others. I am also incredibly social and after being stuck in the house for so long ( like we all experienced with Covid) I always wanted to have a meaningful career. For me, that was real estate. This career choice has given me the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and help people, which are the two things I value the most. No, it was not easy at all. That was the hardest test I have ever taken in my life. Even once you have your license, there is so much work that goes into it. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I truly believe everything happens for a reason and this is where my path has led me. If there is any piece of advice I could share, it would be to never give up on your dreams. You are capable of absolutely any you want to do in life. We all go through struggles, but if you keep you head up and remain positive, great things will come your way, I promise. Now get out there and live your best life.
