We had the good fortune of connecting with Liam Abujawdeh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liam, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business started out as a hobby as I enjoyed video editing as a kid and continued to learn through trial and error. I started out by creating videos for things that I enjoyed and was hyper-fixated always on my next video. This developed into something I began to obsess over. My mind would constantly ask: How do I make this better? How do I learn more? What am I doing wrong and how can I be better?

After working at a media company for a short-time, I was teased with the possibilities that were out there. I loved the idea on how video and photo is custom to each person – there’s no perfect way of doing it and everyone has different artistic visions.

I started my own business because I felt that I would not be able to reach my full potential unless I went out on my own and pushed myself. I aspire to create a media company that inspires others, has effective leadership, is financially healthy and has a strong brand through customer satisfaction.

LAZ Creative Media is a media agency that provides high quality photo and video for Branding (Advertisements), Events, Real Estate, Construction and Athletics. It has not been an easy journey but it has been a very fulfilling journey. In order to grow, you must constantly put yourself in uncomfortable situations and that is exactly what this business has taught me. I have come across a lot of great and interesting people but I have also come across dishonest and untrustworthy individuals as well. It’s funny because I have actually learned more from the challenges than I have the successes.

The world should know that LAZ Creative Media takes pride in our work and holds the customers needs and values paramount. The reason why ‘Creative’ is in our name is because we are constantly brainstorming new ideas and aiming to push the boundaries of video and photo production.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Coming to New Jersey, I would highly recommend the Jersey Shore when it’s warm out. Point Pleasant Beach is my favorite beach as I spent a lot of time there as a child so it has sentimental value to me. Food wise – Mexican food is my favorite so we’re either going to an authentic Mexican restaurant or a more Americanized spot like Surf Taco.

Regardless of weather, my week of fun in NJ would consist of a trips to NYC, trips in Philly, movies, the beach if it’s warm, playing some basketball and lots of Mexican food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents are a huge reason as to why I have pursued my business. They have been instrumental in challenging my decisions in a beneficial way as they have always been my go-to when I need to make a tough decision. While we do not have to agree on everything, I always find their insight to be extremely important as I know they are some of the few people in life that are looking out for me and are challenging me for my own benefit.
