We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Trammell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lily, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Staying true to myself. Understanding my passion and purpose has really fueled so much. There’s so many times in building your business or making new moves that you could be swayed to “go with the crowd”, but by choosing what feels right in your gut, and allowing your authenticity to shine bright, the sky is the limit.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My whole business and brand was inspired through my own battle with acne from a young age. Clearing my skin was the most liberating experience I’ve had to date, and I wanted to bring that to as many others as I possibly could.
I don’t clear acne in the “traditional” ways most Estheticians do or what’s sold to us through the media. I have a very raw, holistic and honest approach to each one of my clients.
It’s what worked for me, and I now get to see it work for so many others. It’s not just my passion, it’s what I’m meant to do.
Getting to this place wasn’t a walk in the park, although when you follow your heart, I truly believe it makes everything a little bit easier. I started my business in the middle of the pandemic when everything was shut down. I used my stimulus checks to invest into my business and continued to tell myself “if I want it bad enough I’ll make it happen”.
Confidence in myself, what I have to offer and how I offer it has been the most used tool to get me where I am today. If I felt confidence lacking in an area of my business I would buy a course on the subject, invest in better equipment, re strategize or turn to a mentor. A business isn’t supposed to be perfect right away, but you have to be willing to change what’s needed as you go to try to get there.
Perfectionism is an interesting thing because, while it doesn’t truly exist, if you shoot for it, you’ll land somewhere close. And that’s what I continue to try to do every day in my business and brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with a coffee at Lima Roasters, it’s by far the cutest coffee place. A picnic in city part, middle of summer, always makes the whole world seem happy and full of life. Sushi at Jeju, on their patio, watching Fort Collins in its truest form. A stop at Cache Creative Studio for beautiful pictures from Emily Foss to capture the moment. A sweet cone of ice cream from Turn. Dinner is always done right at The Emporium in their modern setting. And last, but not least, head upstairs to their rooftop bar, The Sunset Lounge, for a gorgeous cocktail overlooking Fort Collins.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly have such an amazing support group around me!
My parents raised me to always follow my heart and have the confidence that if I really want something I can make it happen.
My husband has always pushed me to never see walls around possibilities and he’s forever the best person for me to get a little inspiration and hype when needed.
I have now listened to Brooke Castillo’s podcast “The Life Coach School” for almost 8 years now. Her podcast has seriously helped me within personal relationships, business, success, confidence, you name it. I can never get enough of what that woman has to preach!
Last, but not least, the amazing women I have found that not only inspire me and drive me, but also have leveled up my business in so many ways. Emily Foss, owner of Sweet Justice Photography and Gabriella Olson, owner of Ozia Studio. These two women make my wildest dreams come to life for my business and brand. They are absolute boss babes and I feel so blessed to have them as a part of my life!
