We had the good fortune of connecting with Linden Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linden, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
There’s always risk in starting your own business and in my case, I found what I was passionate about and it became a career. As I was starting out and well into my career as a wedding photographer, I was also working full time as a Marketing Director at a custom home building company. Last year, I took the leap to focus solely on my personal photography business and doing what I love. It was a big risk since I was in a great, comfortable position, but I knew I was ready and was looking for a better work / life balance and knew being my own boss would bring me ultimate happiness as long as I did it right. Being an entrepreneur is all about the ups and downs, not always knowing what could happen next, but putting in the work and trusting yourself. My life has completely changed after I took the risk and I am now able to work and collaborate with more amazing people, travel more often, and put energy into what I love – it’s been a dream.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My style of photography is ethereal, nostalgic, colorful, and a bit moody. I document all the big moments and the little details in between. I lean into movement, storytelling, and helping my couples be their authentic selves in front of the camera. That’s how we get the photos that take you right back to the way it felt.

My whole heart goes into providing the best experience for my couples. I really get to know each of my clients and understand what’s most important to them when it comes to their wedding photography. I help them open up, feel comfortable, and be present in the moment. That way, when they look back at their photos, they can relive their favorite moments in an honest, beautiful, and artful way.

I got to where I am today by always creating, even if its for free. I become inspired by the outdoors and if I’m out hiking and find a place I love, I get so excited to photograph a couples loves story there. I’m constantly pushing myself and trying new things and ways to communicate with my couple during and outside of the photoshoot. I think something I’m most proud of are the people / clients that I attract with my work and personality. They really align with my creativity and are always down to have fun, be present, and make the most of our time together.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ohhh this is so fun! There are SO many things. Let’s pack it into a day…I’d start with morning yoga on the rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver. Grab a late lunch or brunch at Linger or City O City. Walk around and take some Polaroids or film photos at the Denver Botanic Gardens, grab happy hour at Death & Co. and catch the sunset at The Source Hotel or The Jacquard rooftop pool. If we have another day, check out the Denver Art Museum, catch a baseball game at Coors Field or a show at Buell Theater. Ask me this again in the wintertime…haha. So much to do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel so lucky that I’ve found people in the wedding photography community that are supportive of each other. A lot of people, photographers included, feel that the industry can be competitive, but in my eyes, there’s always enough to go around – an abundance versus competition or lacking mindset. I have learned and grown so much from other wedding photographers and business coaches, shoutout Nathan Chanski, and have built a community of supportive people, who I also get to collaborate with. I also have an incredible partner and husband, Dillon, who has been at my side through my whole 8 years of running my own business. He’s helped me photograph countless weddings as my second photographer, and has given me the courage while believing in me run with my business and take it to the next level.
