Meet Linds Christopher | Casting & Entertainment Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Linds Christopher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linds, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
There’s an old saying I’ve heard a million times and it goes, “if you CAN do something else, do it, but if your heart aches at the thought of doing anything other than this, that’s how you know.” I heard it when I wanted to go competitive in figure skating, I heard it again when I was getting into acting, and a third time when I started my Bachelor of Journalism. With all of these outlets, I obviously realized not only was there something else I COULD do, there was something else I WANTED to do. However, through every new opportunity, a few things stayed true: I feel unfulfilled if my position is not social, creative, collaborative, active, and challenging.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love being an interdisciplinary creative because I am always learning new skills … and more importantly, learning that I cannot be the master of everything. I think the connection between entertainment and technology is going to get increasingly entangled as more virtual experiences are developed and I’m grateful to have experience on both sides of the line.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh goodness – I love a good (read: strong) espresso martini and I’m a sucker for a bottle of Red wine. King Taps, Ruby Soho, and Belfast Love have been a few of my regular hangout spots – the first and third have impeccable gluten free pizza.
In the winter, I love the Nathan Phillips Square rink after after dark or visiting Lake Devo at my Alma Mater. In the summer, I’m always soaking up the sun at Trinity Bellwoods with Hound Dog.
If they’re staying with me for a week, we’ll sneak in a hike in High Park + one to Humber Bay, we’ll paddle board in front of the CN Tower, we’ll check out a Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market and indulge in either jerk or fried chicken & waffles (or both!?). Then probably wash it down with some Brickworks cider.
My favourite adventures include a lot of walking, little understanding of direction, and a whole lot of laughs. The best places are the ones you don’t know how you stumbled upon.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My high school drama teacher got me my first on-set experience; my brother’s ex-girlfriend’s sister signed me to my first agency; a random crew member teaching me about upgrades is the only reason I have my first credit; my parents used to drive me to set and wait 12+ hours in the car for me; a friend from high school was the first person to ask me to cast anything; so many people have given me ideas, opportunities, and experiences I am very grateful for.
