We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Renee Chapman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay Renee, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I have one child, she’s 15 and it’s like looking in a mirror. We grew together and as much as she learned for me, I learned from her, the most being open.

One of the most important things as a parent is to provide unconditional love and support to your children. This forms the foundation for their emotional well-being and helps them develop a strong sense of self-worth and confidence.

Additionally, actively listening to them, being present in their lives, and guiding them with empathy and understanding are crucial for their overall development and happiness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lindsay is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, where she double majored in General Education and American History while maintaining an athletic scholarship playing soccer for the Razorbacks. During her undergraduate years, Lindsay began bartending as a way to make extra money but soon found herself fascinated with the notions of teaching and sharing ideas with her guests and co-workers and began to envision a path where she could translate these passions into furthering her career in hospitality. She later completed her Master’s Degree in Architecture and Design at the University of Delaware.

After graduating, Lindsay chose to further her career in hospitality and moved to New Orleans, attracted to the wealth of storied establishments and cultured visitors. Finding her niche and honing her own unique style at lauded establishments like Bombay Club, Hotel Monteleone, and Belle Epoque of The Absinthe House, she was eventually promoted to resident head bartender and took on the responsibilities of menu development, training programs, and costing for six years. Lindsay has designed and developed over 30 bars throughout the United States as well as been fundamental in organizations built for the hospitality industry such as Tales of The Cocktail and Brooklyn Bar Convent.

In 2012, while excelling in her career, she started her own business consulting in the fields of bar design and programming, as well as event production including Visa Super Bowl, SXSW, and New York Fashion Week events.

Lindsay continued to excel in her career, with the Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana naming her a top state ambassador for preserving and promoting hospitality, culture, and tourism. She pursued volunteer work for the Louisiana Land Trust for Preservation – an organization that works to protect the threatened wetlands of the Gulf Coast – as well as the National Breast Cancer Coalition. She is also an active volunteer for Attack Addiction, a platform for families of those struggling with substance abuse and dependence.

In an effort to further her outreach and consulting efforts, Lindsay currently lives in Honolulu while traveling to New York City, Jalisco, and Alaska immediately found herself thriving in the kinetic undercurrent of energy all destinations provide.

She has expanded her consulting scope to include beauty salons, restaurant pop-ups, and cruise lines.

Constantly hungry for furthering her education and bringing her inimitable passion to those around her, Lindsay is excited for what the hospitality industry has in store for her, and what she hopes to continue bringing to those in her community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depends on what area we’re talking—since I have had the opportunity to travel so much I’ve created my Tops for every city. In New Orleans you can’t miss the city without a drink at Jewel of the South with Chris Hannah, a decorated veteran of the hospitality and cocktail culture industry. The Joint in the bywater for the best bbq of your life, and lastly a frozen coffee at Erin Rose.
In New York City you can’t miss Assalt & Battery in the West Village for the most mouthwatering fish & chips. My favorite dive bar is Holiday Lounge on St.Marks, find Pineapple or Alex Strange and you’ll be in for a treat.
Alaska, take it in for all the scenery and whales. But if you find yourself in anchorage don’t skip on Ginger, and Asian fusion restaurant with Evan Baldwin, a fellow New Orleanian, behind the bar. In Denali don’t miss town without karaoke night at Panorama Pizza on Wednesdays, Jess and Ivan Rinck are the owner operators and absolute gems. And stop by Black Bear Coffee shop, you’ll find owner and baker Becki Klauss there almost everyday with a wide selection of gluten free snacks and coffee.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I attribute a lot of my success to the support of my closest friends and mentors; Jackie Summers and Paula Echevarria Zamora. Jackie Summers is a James Beard Finalist, seasoned public speaker, and serial entrepreneur. Summers is the founder of JackFromBrooklyn Inc. and the creator of the award-winning Sorel Liqueur. He is also one of the most supportive and loving friends to have. We share the love of New Orleans and New York, our birthdays, and the collective mindset to make our communities stronger and better for the future. Paula Echevarria Zamora, an Emmy award winning writer born and raised in Madrid, now an award winning cocktail maven at Plates in New Orleans. Our spicy Latin backgrounds met over cocktails years ago and the rest is history. The insurmountable support and love from and for these two could never be unmatched.
