We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Marie Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa Marie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue an artistic career after trying to obtain a degree and go the corporate route.

I’ve always had a passion for hair and makeup since I was a little girl. I used to watch my aunts and mother get their hair and makeup done just to go out for dinner. I was always the friend, cousin, and sister that always did the prom hair or our hair/makeup for dance recitals and shows. I also love painting and drawing. After working as a Paralegal for 7yrs and working for other people, handling others dilemmas and having the 9-5pm with no flexibility in schedule, I decided to follow the passion I always had.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most known as an entrepreneur, as well as a published celebrity hairstylist. I am beyond proud of how far I’ve come in the amount of time I’ve been in this industry as well as being fortunate to be surrounded by great mentors and teams with the same creative visions and goals. I personally can’t pinpoint what sets me apart from others as I’d like to believe we are all different and talented. I do know that my efficiency to execute a look within an allotted time frame while allowing the style to be polished to perfection has become my niche. I’ve had many struggles along the way. I want people to remember Without risk, there is no success. If you don’t think positive at all times, it can deter you. It’s definitely easier said than done but it’s worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge Miami enthusiast. I tend to find there is more to do South than North at least for visitors. We would definitely have a relaxing day at the Biltmore or Fountain Bleu hotel and relax by the pool, possibly take our boat out, jet skis and enjoy the tropical weather as none live here. Go eat at Kiki on the River, and possibly go out for drinks to a rooftop bar downtown or even take a stroll in Wynwood which is the art district. Hanging out with one another and enjoying each other’s company even in the comfort of my home is always our go to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say Miguel Rodriguez. He’s the one who saw my talent and told me to pursue my passion and supported me every step of the way. He continuously pushes me to be a better version of myself and is always cheering me on on the corner. Most importantly I’m blessed to have him as my husband. He was able to recognize it and encourage me to step out of what I knew was my comfort zone!
