Meet Liz Samora | Lead singer of the rock band Absolution from Antonito Colorado. I am a songwriter and can play the guitar and piano. I’ve been a musician since I was 12 years old.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Samora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by a lot of things. When I write a song I don’t usually know what the lyrics are about until the song is finished! I can pull inspiration from my own experiences (good or bad). I also find inspiration in other people’s experiences, and I’ve found myself even writing about volcano eruptions and cults!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since I was 12 years old I have been a musician and a songwriter. I am heavily influenced by Rock and Metal, but my musical influences can range anywhere from Behemoth and Mudvayne to Evanescence and Billie Eilish! Hard rock bands are rare to come by in my area and we tend to stand out in the community! Because of this it was hard to integrate into the music scene, and we come from a very small town where the music class in our high school was a rock band which is so cool! We were a garage band for about 5 years until we entered and won Battle of the Bands! It is so nice to have support within our community and in turn we get to support other artists and make music we love! In the process we have met some incredible artists and we have the best time sharing the stage with our friends!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are some amazing local businesses in the San Luis Valley! To eat I recommend visiting main street in Alamosa. The SLV Brewery has great food and is a great hang where you can get some delicious local brews! The Friars Fork is another favorite for Italian and fine cocktails. Milagros and Roots by Blessed has some amazing coffee. If you’re looking for adventure the Great Sand Dunes and Zapata falls are always a great option! And dont forget the best local radio station KRZA 88.7 who plays and supports local artists (including myself)!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My band mates in Absolution! My brother Matt Samora, Guitar player Erik Lucero, and Bass guitarist Alex Flores. They always support and encourage me to be the best I can, and we make really rad music together!
