Meet Lo Anderson | Colorado Elopement and Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lo Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lo, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started my photography business, I was saying “yes” to everything. Every inquiry, every weekend, every opportunity that came my way. I was so focused on growing my business that I didn’t leave much room for myself. Over time, I realized that constantly being “on” wasn’t sustainable, and that if I wanted to give my couples the very best version of me, I needed to start setting boundaries and prioritizing my own life as well.
Now, I think of work-life balance less as a perfect split and more as an ongoing rhythm. There are seasons when I’m traveling nonstop for weddings and editing late into the night, and quieter months where I focus on rest, personal projects, and reconnecting with friends and family. I’m intentional about blocking off time for adventures or events with my husband, slow mornings with coffee, and trips that aren’t work related.
Finding that balance has made me a better photographer because I’m showing up creatively refreshed and more present for the people I’m photographing. I also believe that the kind of couples I work with (who value connection, intention, and the beauty of a meaningful experience) appreciate that I live by those values too!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to say that my work is where western charm meets mountain adventure. My work is all about capturing honest, unscripted moments for couples who value connection, intention, and the beauty of the in-between. While I love a good epic mountain view, what excites me most is documenting the real, imperfect, joy-filled memories people will hold onto for a lifetime.
What sets me apart is the experience I offer. It’s not just about beautiful photos, it’s about creating a space where couples feel completely themselves, whether they’re exchanging vows at a mountaintop elopement or dancing the night away with your closest friends and family on the ranch. I believe your wedding day should feel like yours, and I do everything I can to make sure my couples are present, grounded, and fully soaking it in.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I started with no roadmap, just a camera and a gut feeling that this was what I was meant to do after shooting my first wedding for a dear friend. There were seasons of burnout, creative doubt, and learning hard lessons the long way. But every challenge taught me to trust my instincts, invest in my relationships, and focus on serving people well over chasing trends.
If there’s one thing I’d want people to know about my brand, it’s that this isn’t about perfectly posed photos or viral content. It’s about telling honest stories in beautiful places. I’m endlessly grateful to do this work and to connect with people who value adventure, intention, and celebrating love in their own way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Colorado for a week, we’d kick things off in Buena Vista — breakfast at Jan’s, paddleboarding at Cottonwood Lake, and dinner with live music at The Surf Hotel. Then we’d head to Crested Butte, my favorite mountain town, for wildflower hikes on Snodgrass Trail, coffee at Camp 4, and sunset at Lake Irwin.
We’d grab pizza at Secret Stash, cocktails at The Dogwood, and spend our days exploring trails, finding hidden lakes, and hanging out in those small mountain towns you never want to leave.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s no way I’d be where I am today without the support of my family and close friends. These are the people who believed in this dream long before it was a full-time business. They encouraged me to always go on adventures, book spontaneous road trips, and trust that I could build something meaningful from scratch.
I’m also endlessly grateful for the photography community I’ve found along the way. Having people in my corner who truly understand the wild schedules, creative ruts, and unforgettable moments makes this work even more meaningful.
And of course, my husband deserves a huge shoutout for being my biggest cheerleader. He’s always reminding me to put the camera down, soak in the views, and live the kind of adventurous, intentional life I encourage my couples to embrace.
