We had the good fortune of connecting with Logan Robertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Logan, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Be a professional in everything you do.”

I recently heard this quote and it really resonated with me. The story went that no matter the time of day, be it morning, afternoon, or middle of the night- you should be able to stand up and be a pro. When you walk into a room, the reaction from everyone inside should be “Ah, that’s exactly what I thought they would be like”. When it’s time to perform, you need to perform exactly the way everyone expects you to perform.

Over my career I’ve thought a lot about what it means to be a professional artist. What I always come back to is that, as creators, we are more like athletes than artists. A lot of people like to play basketball- but many days, they might not feel like it. A player in the NBA does not have access to that grace. When it’s time to train, they train. When it’s game day, they need to perform whether or not they wanted to play basketball that day. It’s their job, and the expectation is nothing less.

Whether I’m using a camera, or a crayon- anytime I’m called to make something or solve a problem for others -I remind myself how fortunate I am to walk this path. Many people have a passion for photography, but when I get up everyday, it’s time to be a pro.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I remember being young, growing up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I remember riding skateboards off the front porch, or trying to jump bikes off the new driveway. I remember coming home from school and watching Bob Ross paint pictures, telling me how everything was possible, “because this was our little world”. I guess you could say what I remember most from my childhood is feeling like the world was full of possibility, and I needed to explore more of it.

I didn’t grow up in an area with mountains, raging rivers, or an obvious action sports scene. In fact, I didn’t even grow up in an area where photography was a highly prevalent career. But I did grow up believing that all these things were possible. I believed there was a place where adventure was waiting for me.

Today I feel like, more than anything else, I’m still just searching for a little bit more. To see a bit more of what is possible, and to bring an extra bit of adventure to life. This search has given me the privilege of working alongside some fantastic people, bringing lifestyle and product imagery to those who share in my quest. Be it through stills or motion, the tool has never really mattered for me.

The energy has always come from believing that I could make inspiring artwork however I needed to, because anything is possible in our little world!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend came to visit me in Orlando, I’d make it my goal to show them everything there was to do that wasn’t Disney!

An early morning trip over to cocoa beach to catch the morning light would be a great start, and if we were lucky, watch one of the many rocket launches that take place at Kennedy space center every month.

For eats, we would definitely visit Tin & Taco for some of the best tacos I’ve ever had, and if we were feeling fancy, a stop at the Ravenous Pig would be in order. A wide assortment of creative beverages can be had at one of our many themed bars, but since it is officially spooky season, we’d have to swing by Cocktails and Screams for one of the coolest craft cocktail experiences that Orlando has to offer.

Getting outside would be essential, paddle boarding one of the many natural springs and checking out all of the wildlife. perhaps some camping at Alexander Springs State Park? After a warm day outside, a great way to cooldown would be chilling rink-side for an Orlando Solar Bears hockey game.

I would guess that, after the culture shock of dealing with our traffic, most people would want to relax and blow off some steam- so we would round out any given day with some great food and axe throwing at The Axe Trap.

If they enjoyed their stay so much that they decided to live here, I’d give a quick shoutout to our friends over at Streamline Mortgage solutions who would help them lock in the perfect home!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s difficult for me to choose just one person to thank for how far I’ve come in this journey, but I would like to take the opportunity to thank my partner, Leanna.

Early on when we began dating, she was the first person outside of my professional circle who asked me thoughtful questions about my photography and why I loved & cared about my work so much. As incredibly formative of a moment this was for me, it is but a small fraction of the support she has given both myself and our family over the last 6+ years. Throughout many ups and downs, both great business and very difficult times, she continues to be the keystone in my life. I would not be who I am as a person today, nor would I have the privilege of many of the opportunities I enjoy, without her.

She has seen me hold the camera everywhere from high-budget commercial sets, to friendly gatherings and family vacations. No matter the setting, she has always reminded that when I am creating images, I look like I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.

The part I struggle to find the words to express is that: If I’m exactly where I need to be, it’s because she is right there with me.

Thank you, Leanna.
