We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Otto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
LDO Creates exists to help bring people together even if they can’t see each other. The mission is in our tagline: “Handmade Greeting Cards Connecting People.”
It is so important to stay connected with friends and family, especially during hard times, our cards can help do that. Never forget how important your friends and family are. These people support you in hard times and share your joy in good times.
In a digitally connected world, handmade greeting cards tell recipients that someone paused longer than a fleeting instant to express love, care, concern, or happiness. The next time you think of how much you love someone, how much you miss someone, or want to show someone your sympathy or support, send them a handmade greeting card with a handwritten message inside.
There is a card for every occasion and for no occasion at all. How do you feel when you receive a greeting card? Make others feel the same way.
Weddings, holidays, birthdays, losses, graduations, hellos, goodbyes, best wishes, good luck, and so much more. Connect with people and spread love to make the world a better place.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My love language is giving and receiving gifts. It is important to me to show those around me how much they mean to me. I can do that with a handmade greeting card. In making my cards, I use different tools and mediums, so each card is unique. The greeting cards business is huge and it is very difficult to distribute my cards. I try to work with other small businesses to help grow our businesses. It’s not easy to make the sale, but I like to think my cards sell themselves. I really just want people to feel special when they receive a card that I have made.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the mountains outside of Denver and love to take visitors to hike or snowshoe and then back to my house to sit in front of the fire with a good charcuterie board and glass of wine. The next day I would take them to the little downtown area to explore local owned shops, then a walk around the lake followed by dinner at one of the locally owned restaurants. I love my community and want to support small business owners.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Andrew, is my biggest supporter (and critic!) It is because of him that I strive to keep making handmade greeting cards and distribute them for others to connect with their friends and family.
