We had the good fortune of connecting with Madi Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madi, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am a Colorado Springs, Colorado native. My dad and Uncle are the co-founders of Westside Tattoo. I was raised in the tattoo industry and have always looked up to so many amazing artists, with my dad being my biggest inspiration, when it comes to tattooing and every other thing in life. He raised me all by himself and has taught me everything i know about art, life skills, and even gave me his really stupid sense of humor. My childhood was not the easiest, life threw many unfair situations at me and my dad taught me how to stay strong, and took every step with me. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have the strength, confidence, and motivation I have today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My goal is to focus on body positivity with my career and use my past knowledge from beauty school to my advantage. I look at tattoo magazines, and Instagram pages, with tattoo models who all have what society has made the “ideal” body type. I have heard many times from many people “I can’t get this tattoo because it wouldn’t look right on my body” I want to show everyone that that is not true, and use proper placement of tattoos to contour, and accentuate the natural beauty of the body, while keeping in mind the undertones of skin and which colors would best complement the client. Leaving them feeling uplifted and confident in their own skin, while also getting a sick tattoo! I have always been very hard on myself, very self critical. Wether it’s about my art, my body, my personality, literally anything. One thing that has helped me are my tattoos, I feel more me, like I’m able to express myself and would love to share the experience. My apprenticeship has been hard, I over analyze, and at first got down on myself for everything I did. My dad, my boyfriend, and all of my friends at Westside have made me see my own worth, and be open to learning, but proud of the amazing work I do and not beat myself up so bad. I want everyone to know that I am very proud of myself for how far I’ve come and for how far I’m going to go, I am so genuinely excited for what the future holds. And it’s pretty damn awesome that I’m getting to start living my dream at 20 years old.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love concerts, especially small venues like The Black Sheep, and I am a total shopper too, Ross and goodwill, always. And for my outdoor safe place, Cheyenne Canyon for sure, so peaceful and serene.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dad (Aaron Moore) and my boyfriend (Evan Hahn)
