Meet Madison Goering | Capital Access Manager & MSW/MPH Candidate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Goering and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, what do you attribute your success to?
We are character-based lenders. Traditional lenders prefer to make large loans and require borrowers to have established credit, collateral and audited business financials. We believe small businesses make communities stronger. Prairie Rose Development Corp and Kiva Colorado provides the missing micro-loan in Colorado so that small businesses can build their borrowing potential and grow!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Prairie Rose Development Corporation, our mission is to stimulate the creation, prosperity, and economic welfare of diverse small businesses creating sustainable, living-wage jobs within their communities.
To help launch and grow new small businesses in Colorado, we facilitate 0% and no-fee Kiva loans up to $15,000 to better democratize access to capital for populations who don’t have the collateral or credit scores necessary to secure financing from most nonprofit lenders or banks.
We are a small and mighty team, bilingual in Spanish. It has been challenging to get the word out about our programs, however we are showing up in person and virtually to a variety of entrepreneurial events to get better connected.
We are really excited for our recent collaboration with Metro State University, offering character-based loans up to $50,000 to businesses at least 50% owned by an MSU Denver Affiliated individual.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Cara Strauss Contrerras, Owner and Co-founder of SutiSana (https://sutisana.com/) is a powerhouse of a woman who puts her employees first. She is a ferociously creative problem solver, not letting bureaucracy or failure dampen her spirits. Cara has taught me many things about life and being a small business owner, and her tenacity and courage are aspects of her character that have stuck with me.
