We had the good fortune of connecting with Marianna Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marianna, is there something you believe many others might not?
Owning a business may sound like a dream come true, but let’s get real for a second. The idea that it automatically grants you more free time than a 9-5 job is a bit of a fairy tale. Sure, there’s the allure of setting your own hours and being your own boss, but the reality often involves long days, sleepless nights, and a to-do list that never seems to end.
When you’re a business owner, the buck stops with you. That means you’re not just clocking in and out; you’re constantly thinking about your business. From managing finances to marketing, and from customer service to product development, the responsibilities are endless. Unlike a 9-5 job where you can generally leave work at the office, a business owner’s work often follows them home, turning evenings and weekends into prime business hours.
So, while owning a business does offer flexibility, it’s not necessarily synonymous with having more free time. It’s a different kind of commitment, one that requires passion, dedication, and a whole lot of hustle.
What should our readers know about your business?
Ever since I was a teenager, I was fascinated by the world of beauty and skincare. I loved experimenting with different products and treatments. That passion only grew stronger as I pursued formal training and became a licensed esthetician. However, working for someone else’s spa never quite felt like the ultimate dream come true, and I knew deep down that I wanted to create something of my own.
In the world of beauty and esthetics, it’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison. My business has taught me to celebrate my own unique journey rather than compare myself to other estheticians in the industry.
When I first started, I was constantly looking at others and questioning my own abilities. Were their techniques better? Was their client base larger? It was exhausting and, quite frankly, discouraging. But then I realized that each esthetician brings their own personality to the table, and that’s what clients truly connect with. By embracing my individuality, I saw my business flourish. My clients appreciate the genuine care and unique services I provide, which can’t be replicated by anyone else.
When I think about the most important factor behind my success as an esthetician, one word comes to mind: passion. From the moment I embarked on this journey, I knew that my love for beauty and skincare was more than just a fleeting interest; it was a calling. My passion fuels my dedication to continuous learning, staying updated with the latest trends, and mastering new techniques. It’s this unwavering enthusiasm that allows me to provide top-notch services and make my clients feel fabulous in their own skin.
Another key element to my success is building genuine connections with my clients. Being an esthetician is about more than just performing treatments; it’s about creating a sanctuary where clients feel valued and understood. I take the time to listen to their concerns, understand their unique needs, and tailor my services to meet those needs. This personalized approach not only fosters trust but also ensures that my clients leave feeling rejuvenated and confident.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My fiancé has always been incredibly supportive. He convinced me to take the leap and enroll in esthetician school, which lead me to own my business. He believes in me and thinks that I truly am the best at what I do, even when I don’t.
I also want to thank my parents for also being supportive when I decided to drop out of college, enroll in esthetician school, and start my own business.
