We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Childs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I wanted to be my own boss. I had been working in a factory during Covid.
I took a risk quitting my job to build the trailer and with hard work it has paid off.
Good hospitality, Location, consistency and quality are the habits that have made me successful.
Having a great support system and people believing in my dream have been the key to my success.
The most important lesson I have learned is that you can do anything if you put your mind to it and follow your dream and work hard.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One thing that sets me apart is I built my food truck from the ground up. Everything about it is authentic and unique. My food is made from scratch and I take my time to prepare the way it would be prepared in Memphis.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My passion is traveling. I love to spend weekends in the mountains, camping and hiking. I love trying different food trucks, and different food. If I had a friend visiting, I would take them to the SOUTHERN PIT for authentic Memphis style barbecue. I would also recommend the Hawaiian burger at the Magic Food bus.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My lovely wife and my beautiful mother. Mi Casa resource center also helped me get started.
