Meet Mariza Rogers | Small Business Owner – Apothecarybymariza.com

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariza Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariza, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business is my calling I’m able to provide plant-based products to people who have run out of options and are looking for solutions to common issues. Many people are looking for a more natural remedy. I make feminine products, medicinal soaps and tea’s, candles. I saw there was a need and I wanted to try and help others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Apothecarybymariza.com I am a small business. Majority of my products are made by hand and made by me. It started out as a hobby in my kitchen making tea and candles. I am still a one man band meaning I have no employees so I create the products, I ship them out and I run customer service. Making the products has always been easy because I love what I do and I’m grateful to be in business. The hard part would be starting my business in the beginning of covid and now in a time when money is tight for so many.
I’m excited about moving into wholesale. My products will be moving into mainstream stores in 2023 which is very exciting. Imagine seeing a product you create with your own hands at all major stores. That’s so crazy!
I want more people to see me and know they can do it too. That little hobby you have can turn into a million dollar business. You just have to start!
I make tea, feminine products, candles and medicinal soaps from hand. I started small and slowly grew. I consider myself to still be small but not as small as I was. My business has grossed over a million in about 2 years and it’s all online and I make everything from home. I’m not special, anyone can do what I’ve done if they are passionate about what they love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t live in a city I live in a tiny town in East Texas. If my best friend came here for a week I would help them to embrace the county. We don’t do much, we simply enjoy the peace of the forest.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This may sound strange but I think it’s relatable to anyone who owns a small business. I want to shout out myself for believing in myself enough to get past my own doubts and fears. Before I started I had those common thoughts like “I can’t do this” the industry is already over saturated” where will I get the money to start?” I pushed past that and believed in myself enough to start. I also want to shout out my Instagram following because they were my first sales. They got me off the ground by purchasing from my little business.
In less than 2 years Apothecarybymariza.com an online only business hit its first million.
