We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Hrdlichka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mark, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started looking for my first home when I was 20 years old. I ended up working with 2 different realtors in that process and honestly, it was not a positive experience. With both realtors I felt like I was nothing more than a paycheck or extremely confused as to why I had to do all that I had to do to get this house. I mean, this is the biggest purchase of my life and I felt like all they wanted was their check. It really inspired me to change that process. Shortly after I bought my house I got licensed and started my real estate career. I pride myself on having the heart of a teacher so there is no confusion in the process. But also making sure that my clients all know that I truly care about them and what they are trying to achieve. Their goals are my goals in this process.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Like I mentioned before, long before I was licensed my experience buying a property was a mess. I was nothing more than a paycheck and I had no idea what I was signing or what I was doing. I was young and had no experience in this process. I have a saying “see a need, fill a need”. I saw a need to have not only a real estate professional that was thorough and really understood the process, but to understand how big this decision is for someone and honor that and all of the emotions that come with it. Now is the “fill a need” part. I worked hard and got my real estate license. I spent a couple years doing it all. Working with referrals, online leads, cold calling. I tried it all and It was HARD. Over time my name got out there and my goal was to serve people not sell people. My focus was to serve well, give it my all, and keep my clients informed. Within the next couple of years my business became by referral and repeat business only. I do not market myself what so ever. I rely on doing an amazing job every time and earning their referrals.
What sets me apart from the rest is my heart to inform and teach. My clients know where they are in the process at all times and know what exactly they are signing. There is no confusion. Equally as important, I honor all challenges and emotions that come with buying or selling a home. Its rarely flawless and always full of emotions, but I bring calm and solutions to the problems. When its all done and closed, most all of my clients have become my friends, and I love that part.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a person that loves the out doors. We would certainly spend a day fishing on a kayak. Somewhere close in Monument, CO. or driving up to Lake Dillon is my favorite. Get some relaxing time along with the victory of catching our dinner. I think you have to knock out all the tourist favorites, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, The Incline, Manitou Springs, Cave of winds to name a few.
I am blessed with some really great community. My number one priority would be to invite the close community over to BBQ and let them meet my friend in town. I have no doubt they will feel like they are at home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to start by saying that I am a blessed man in many ways and my faith and Jesus has always led the way in business and the core value of my decision making. I have to take the time to thank my wife Chelsea. She has blessed me with 4 beautiful children and a marriage full of love and happiness. Without her I never would have had the confidence to leave my last career and step out to run my own business. She has put up with the ups and downs of business, the victories and the losses, and all of my nonsense along the way. I hope she knows how much she means to me and how much she has brought out in me that I never would have found without her.
