We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Pavlantos PT, DPT, CBIS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Brain Injury Specialist, I would like to teach the world what I have learned and teach the next generation of professionals how to treat brain injuries. I would like to further educate the general population about how an injury to the brain (one of our most vital organs) can cause devastating effects to a human and their life functions. The brain can be injured from trauma, viruses, and diseases, but in more than 15 years treating this population I have seen amazing healing occur. I always tell my patients, “use the brain to heal the brain.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Mary has been passionate about helping individuals with neurological, orthopedic, and women’s health conditions strive toward achieving functional goals and improve quality of life for fourteen years.

Mary’s approach to physical therapy is to address functional limitations that affect the individual’s life, with an emphasis on getting to the root cause of an injury or dysfunction, and healing from the ground up.

Mary was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM in a mountain town where she grew up playing sports including basketball and running track. She moved away to attend Whittier College in California where she played basketball and graduated with Bachelor of Kinesiology & Leisure Science. In 2009, Mary received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.

Mary enjoys spending time with her children Zoe & Grayson going to art museums, traveling, laughing, and enjoying beauty of Colorado. She also loves meditation, gardening, crafting, and living each day to its fullest.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out to my father, Tony Pavlantos, who was in devastating car accident and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury which severely affected him and inspired me to get into my profession. He fought the good fight without the proper medical care and he taught me a lot about how faith can heal wounds. I would also like to thank my beautiful mother, Kiki Pavlantos, who is a warrior of many types, a powerful, strong and courageous soul. I wouldn’t be here without you both! I love you so much.
