We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I spent most of my 20s and early 30s hustling constantly. Between meetings, travel and the desire for success, I prioritized building my business. Once I had a child, everything changed and the hustle meant much less to me. I changed course and spent time and energy developing relationships that mattered to me. My time on social media drastically reduced as well as my relationship to making money and building a business.

What should our readers know about your business?
Every business finds success in different ways. There are lots of great photographers out there. I try to separate by not only taking good images, but being the best to work with. I’m very collaborative and easy going and always bring joy to my productions.

While taking good photos is ultimately the most important aspect of the job, I find the experiences and relationships are the most rewarding. Looking back on 25+ years of doing this, I remember the experiences more than the images.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
People come to Colorado for the mountains, so I’d start there. We also have a good trail and bike path system in town.

There are plenty of delicious restaurants, coffee shops and parks in Denver to go to.

Some go to spots for me:
– Pablos Coffee
– Point Easy restaurant
– Los Dos Patrillos
– Cheesman Park, Wash Park and City Park.
– Day trip to Boulder for additional hiking and food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, my college professor Kevin Moloney got me started in the right direction. From a photographic and journalistic perspective, I learned ethics and how to be a solid photographer. This influenced how I interact with people to this day and how I run my business.
