Meet Matthew Moreau | Artist & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Moreau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I think that work life balance is personal, and it changes frequently based on a number of influences. There are times when you can rest a little, and there are also times when you can’t. I find it helpful to remember that everything is a season, and seasons change. Set goals for yourself of how you’d like to balance work with hobbies and other interests, and begin working towards those goals.
One of our goals was to invest in the health and happiness of our team by embracing a 4-day work week for all employees. After 2 years of talking about it, we finally made it happen. With this change, we noticed productivity went up, and so did profit. More importantly, our staff culture has never been better.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My artwork is inspired by immersion in the outdoors. Great art, like the great outdoors, deepens our connection to the world and one another. I try to create artwork that brings the two together. I hope that my designs capture the way you feel when you’re outside.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Greenville, SC and the surrounding area is full of great opportunity for food, sights, adventure. We’d start with breakfast at The Commons and then hop on our bikes to ride the Swamp Rabbit Trail – a greenway that used to be the area’s textile railroad. The trail stretches miles in each direction, but I’d head into our beautiful downtown are to show you our waterfall and suspension bridge. Then we’d head to the mountains and enjoy hiking the tallest peaks east of the Mississippi along the Blue Ridge Parkway. To finish off the day, we’d land in one of the many watering hole options in our little gateway town of Travelers Rest.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my spouse and business partner who I’ve worked with for 15 years. She’s left half of my brain and without her contribution, we wouldn’t have the business we have today.
