We had the good fortune of connecting with Mckenzie Parrott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mckenzie, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always fueled the creative side of myself. When I was younger my dad taught me how to draw bubble letters & throughout college I found myself constantly doodling in class. Parrott paints has always been there & apart of me, it just took a little confidence to turn it into a business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is my passion project. If I had to describe it in three words they’d be; free, bold & bright. I have a full time job as an emergency management specialist so I currently only pursue my art in the evenings & weekends.
Creating Parrott Paints has allowed me to have a voice in a time where there isn’t much speaking face to face. I hope my art promotes self love, kindness & displays my love for nature.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m normally on the road for my current job but that’s what makes being home so special. If I had friends visiting Colorado my itinerary would include but not be limited to the following activities (in any order); snowboarding, pin ball tournaments, happy hour at Angelos on 6th Ave, late nights catching up, the Denver art museum, more snowboarding & brunch in the park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends.
