We had the good fortune of connecting with Meca Elizabeth Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meca Elizabeth, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
When you own a business – YOU are the business. In order to maintain steady business growth, you must also focus on self growth. When you own a business you get to control how fast or slow it grows, what it represents, and whose life it improves – the same is true in your personal life. Understanding that my personal life and habits are parallel with the success of my business has been a game changer. I am the kind of person who lives to work. I have had a job since I was 9 years old – working is just fun for me! However, this can be detrimental when you do not have balance. When I started taking my mental, physical, and social health seriously – my business growth began to explode. This growth was a direct reflection of the time I was investing in my health. The world will only give you what you can handle. Therefore, the stronger the person the stronger the business.

I recommend listening to a mindset podcast. The Mindset Mentor by Rob Dial is my personal favorite. I also recommend investing in your physical health and finding a community that will hold you accountable. Sandi Griffin, Founder of Sandi Griffin Fitness, my personal trainer (and unofficial business coach) is a tremendous asset in my world. Always remember you are the average of the top five people in your life. Evaluate your social circle often and ask yourself if you are happy being the average of the five people you socialize with most.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always loved fashion and I was weeks away from launching a clothing boutique when my operations came to a screeching halt. Taking into consideration I was launching a retail store during the pandemic age, I knew my small town boutique would not survive without a capturing digital presence. I devoted two years of my life to studying the art of digital marketing. To me, it was an essential skill to have, and something I never thought of as a career skill. After my boutique operations came to a harsh pause, I took a trip to the beach to rest and unplug. While one the beach, I have a conversation with a fellow business owner – who would soon become my first client – regarding social media strategy. A few weeks later, Elizabeth Branding Co. started as a “fun hobby”. During this time, I was in school, had two restaurant jobs, and was still trying to find a way to build a successful boutique in a ultra saturated market. To my suprise, my social media “hobby” soon became in high demand. So much so, I terminated further action with the boutique, quit my two other jobs, and will be soon moving my business to New York, New York, to maintain the same growth rate.

It definitely was not easy, but I have learned a plethora of things since that casual conversation on the beach. I worked plenty of 20 + hour days, missed social gatherings, and barely made ends meet at some points. Everything comes at a price, and sometimes that price is in form of hard work, diligence, and dedication. Where there is a will there’s a way. Surround yourself with good people. My favorite part of owning Elizabeth Branding Co. is simply that – I get to be around and conversate with driven individuals everyday. People contact me when they want to grow their businesses and communicate a change through digital media – that motivation excites me and is what gets me out of bed everyday. As people, we should never stop growing. If you want something go get it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Overtime, I have definitely become more of a ‘day-in’ kind of girl. However, I also love to unplug and explore the less visited luxuries in life. I love Garden of the Gods, and really any scenic trail. I also love to shop downtown Manitou Spring and I have found serval must haves in various shops near Cherry Creek. When I need to get a ultra productive workday in I adopt Homa at Kinship Landing as my office for a few hours – the coffee and vibes are amazing. After working all day, I have to get a stress relieving workout in at Sandi Griffin Fitness.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had amazing teachers, coaches, employers, co-workers, clients and mentors all of my life. Seeking to build relationships with people I respect has shaped my life today. I would like to give a special thanks to everyone who has answered my endless, and often too detailed, questions and concerns. I would also like to thank everyone who recognized potential in me and put their trust in me. Whether that was trusting me to represent their team or putting trust in me to grow their business – I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has invested their time, energy, and resources into me in all walks of my life.
