We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Larson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Pursuing a creative career came naturally to me. Growing up in small-town Montana, artistic opportunities were pretty limited. Throughout elementary school, we would go to art class only once every few weeks. That day was my favorite and I always looked forward to those 45 minutes. In high school, only 2 art classes were offered and I took each class twice. Knowing I wanted to further my education in art, while also being able to earn a living, I decided to pursue graphic design.

What should our readers know about your business?
M Rock Creative is a graphic design and website design company based in Wellington, Colorado. M Rock Creative is a one-person company…that’s me…so you know you’ll get personal service and will always be working with the same person. My expertise spans more than 13 years, with experience and education in graphic design, website development, and social media management. I’m highly invested in making sure my clients succeed, as their success is a partial reflection upon my work.

I started my business in 2013 as a side-gig, with the goal of eventually launching it into a full-time career. That eventually came quickly and I had enough work to quit my “day job” in 2016. Was it easy? Hell no. When I launched my business full-time, I was 3 months pregnant with my 3rd child and my husband was a full-time student at CSU. The pressure to succeed was immense and I busted ass to make it work.

Over the years, I’ve learned that relationships are key. Never burn a bridge. Collaborate and connect with others. Work together to build a better community and good things will come your way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wellington, CO has really grown up in the last few years and I’m excited to have seen it flourish.

When my best friend comes to town, we always check out our local breweries, Soul Squared and Sparge, and grab food at the Wellington Grill and Sol de Jalisco (the margaritas are top-notch). Dessert from The Cakery is a must and shopping at Thistle and Trim Salon Boutique is always fun.

There are so many awesome small businesses in town – too many to name! I’m proud to be part of the community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Mick is the backbone of my life and, in turn, a huge part of my business’s success. His constant support, praise, love, and cheerleading is a big driver for me.
