Meet Megan Somers | Photographer and Private Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Somers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted a creative outlet that allowed and enabled me to give back to my community in a unique way!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love to create artistic portraits that show emotion, connection and magic. Our brand A Child In the Wild focuses on being out in the Wild, connecting with each other and the true beauty of the Grand Valley.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots are either absolutely quiet like at the Mica Mines or bustling with people at the farmers market and distilleries. I love to try all of the new food the valley offers.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My food story begins with the generations before me. I shout out my mother and my aunt, my in laws and every travel show host who has traveled far and wide to learn the intimate cultures behind food. As for photography, that story is only because of my husband and I. After leaving an abusive relationship with a young one in tow, I learned that making my own new memories was essential to survival and the future of my children.
