We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Swensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After a few years as a Cosmetologist in the salon and spa industry, I spent a season working at a spa that offered wedding hair and makeup. It was clear that there was a cool little niche market for mobile hair and makeup services in the Colorado area. I felt like it was something I could do on my own, so I opened my business. I had never really pictured myself as a business owner, but I’ve owned and operated EPBC for 6 years now. It’s not easy being a small business owner, but it has been really rewarding!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ooft! So strange to be interviewed! I really love art in all it’s forms. In my career I’ve focused on hair and makeup artistry. I’ve learned that I think I’ll always be learning! Helping women achieve their vision of beauty is really rewarding.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My city is Fort Collins, so you’ve got to check out the brewery scene. Odell, New Belgium, and countless other great craft breweries around the city. Horsetooth Reservoir is a must. The Poudre Canyon. Maybe try to catch a show at Red Rocks. So many incredible things to do in CO!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my parents! They’ve always been super supportive of my artistic ambitions. They always made me feel like I had a “safety net” of love and support.
