Meet Melissa Gorsuch | Community Connector

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Gorsuch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I went through many challenges and downfalls in my life and if there weren’t family, good people and friends in my corner, I don’t believe I would be here today. My passion has always been to give back to community and help with raising funds, items or awareness to any and all causes and that is the passion and goal behind World of Hearts LLC. I was exhausting friends and family with all my givebacks and so I wanted to go bigger. I just want every Non-Profit to get their name, mission out there. I will help and continue to find more people with Big Hearts who want to Help.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started off in retail and funny but from the moment I watched the movie Cocktail with Tom Cruise, I wanted to be a Bartender and own my own bar. Well I had been in the industry for over 30yrs and had to take a early retirement when my MIL got ill. I was helping care for her and I didn’t want to miss a moment so I left the Bar and became an Independent Thirty-One Consultant and built my Business for 3yrs! My MIL “worked” the business with me until she couldn’t anymore but I continued to grow and build a great business, team and community and the in December of 2024, Thirty-One closed their doors and not only did I lose my Business but I felt like I lost my MIL all over again and that left me wondering, “what do I do with my life at 46yrs old?! Luckily I had already started the thought for World of Hearts but no clue what to do, how to do things, really where to begin!! Many people have given me advice help and steered me in the way of my New Life. Fast forward to today World of Hearts LLC will be hosting it’s first fundraiser, a Casino Night, on September 13th. I also got connected with BeeRewarded which is a platform that also helps bring traffic to small businesses here in the springs.
Nothing was ever easy accept my passion for what I do. I just knew I couldn’t let people down in my family or myself so no matter the challenge I WILL OVERCOME IT!
Just know that I love where I live, love my community and love to give “the shirt off my back”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Pikes Peak, Walk/Hike through Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, Cliff Dwellings, walk through Manitou/OCC & Downtown and for the relaxing/chill night we would eat and watch a movie at Roadhouse Cinemas and then play in the arcade. For Food we would take them to Sandy’s, Jives Coffee in OCC for coffee, Burnt Toast, Susanna’s Comfort Cuisine, King’s Chef Diner, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, Gasoline Alley, Mountain Shadows Restaurant, Paravicini’s, Wines of Colorado, Manitou Winery, Roll-up, Base Camp, Western Omelette 2, Fountain Creek Winery and Eatery, Red Leg Brewing, Peaks n Pines Brewing. If there are any Markets, concerts or games in Town we would definitely try to go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, My MIL, My friends, other small business owners and honestly all the way down to the old man who used to check on me nightly as I walked through, a not so great area late at night, to get home from work!
