We had the good fortune of connecting with Melody Redmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melody, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had went to school and worked as a Cosmetologist, and then I had my daughter when I was 29. While I was home with her, I studied Fitness and Nutrition for an ACE certification. I was struggling with postpartum and a bit of depression, and was feeling insecure about my body after having a baby. I got a local ad for an all natural mineral body wrap, and I decided what did I have to lose – besides hopefully some inches. I had the wrap, and could not believe how much it changed my health and future. I didn’t expect to actually feel relief from some of the postpartum symptoms. I continued to drink water, and was able to feel better and better. I felt like ‘body wraps’ clicked between health & beauty for me. I worked hard and was able to get a 2nd mortgage, waited until I was done nursing my daughter, and flew to Florida for Basic Body Wrap Training.

As for any new business, and especially in my case…because it was sort of a new concept – it was rough beginnings! Twenty Six plus years later, I am so thankful that I hung in there!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The body wraps are all natural minerals, and are a great way to re-nourish, tighten and tone, and cleanse the body. Ion cleanses are a great detoxification done in only 30 minutes time. The services that I offer are a great tool to use in conjunction with other health, exercise, and diet protocals.

I love what I do, the results, and way it makes us feel! I am fulfilled by helping people, and I hope I can continue doing it for many years to come.

I started this business 26+ years ago, after receiving a body wrap that helped me after having my daughter. The risks and investments for me in the body wrap business have been numerous. From the start, I did not have the original investment for the body wrap training. I took out a 2nd mortgage on my townhome, and had to wait until I stopped nursing my daughter to travel to Florida for “body wrap boot camp” for 2 weeks. The first year was marketing, and educating about what a body wrap even was. Not to mention that 26+ years ago, no one had really heard of, or really believed in ‘toxins’. We were unable to market the word, because it was considered a medical term. We could say “Impurities”, which required explaining as well. I had financial challenges, and also had to break off from the original supplier (after many years) that I was doing business with (for ethical reasons). Because of that – I was forced to change my business name several years into the business. I have also had to move out of my custom built salon location from Parker during COVID after 20+ years. It was shrinking pains, but I am so happy to be settled into my studio in Highlands Ranch – and still be in business and wrapping!!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am sort of a home body. Although I am a Colorado native, and have many places that I would recommend people visit.

Glenwood Springs – Hot Springs (stay at the Colorado Hotel)
Brown Palace for the Tea or Brunch (it’s worth it)
Red Rocks – just to walk around and show people (although a concert there is the BEST)
Manitou Springs – The little arcade to spend some time and shop the little shops
The Buffalo Rose – Such a fun little venue to watch bands play
I love to Hike, and could go somewhere in beautiful Colorado everyday.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. My mom – who was always my biggest fan! She came in every week after she quit smoking, and went down two clothing sizes because she was inspired to take better care of herself. My step-dad (DAD) who always supported me, in every way. He drove my mom every week from Morrison to Parker, and would come help me every Saturday to help me at the salon after he retired. I would not have made it a month in this business without either of their love and support!!!
