We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Hughes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the success of my product, Caramelized Onion Salt, comes from a variety of factors. The most important though is the flavor – there is no other product on the market that produces such rich, deep caramelized onion flavor. Alongside that, is the extra attention to detail spent on the branding and packaging. Once you walk up to my stand, you can immediately tell this isn’t your average farmers market production. There is a real cohesion between the visually pleasing appearance of the operation and the premium look, feel, and taste of the products. Even more, the product is wholly unique, nobody else on the planet currently produces anything close to caramelized onion salt. Finally, it’s convenient – caramelized onion salt adds rich caramelized onion flavor to a dish in seconds. The alternative would be to spend hours over a hot stove to recreate a similar effect. As someone with a background in marketing, it’s easy to understand that combining all of these factors together is where the magic happens.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As I’ve discussed, the uniqueness of my products, the exceptional flavor, the convenience, and the premium look and feel of the brand all contribute in unison to create the stand-out business that it is.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As someone who loves a good meal, the top of my list would include a trip to Uchi in Denver. I regularly take friends and family who are visiting to Uchi and have yet to find someone who didn’t love it. Outside of that, a trip to the mountains for some snowboarding, a hike near the flatirons, and a show at red rocks would be essential.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although my business is still young, there’s still a lot of credit to go around for the early success I’ve seen. First and foremost is to my family, for supporting my ideas and encouraging me to go forwards with this project. They are my #1 fans and truly love caramelized onion salt and use it at home. Secondly, my friends deserve credit for physically showing up to help me run the stand on market days and also being huge fans of the products.
