Meet Michelle Gruening | Personal Growth Coach, Keynote Speaker, Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Gruening and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For 20 years, customer service has been at the center of everything I’ve done. Throughout my professional career, I crafted my personal leadership style and developed skills in mentoring others. I loved helping the people on my teams break through mental blocks, learn new skills, and become better versions of themselves. Although I was professionally successful, I recognized that I was completely unfulfilled as a person.
Through my own personal growth journey, I realized that I could continue coaching others in personal development and leadership, and I could do it on my own terms. I chose to leave behind the traditional version of success and redefined success for myself.
Once I left my “employee” era, I was able to take full control of my future. I hired a coach, learned how to launch a coaching business, and started building my company. In September 2021, MG Coaching was born!
Three and a half years later, I coach first-time entrepreneurs to move from being overwhelmed to being unstoppable. I also host personal development Mastermind groups and share my story on stages and podcasts.

What should our readers know about your business?
Through the three and a half years I’ve been running my own coaching business, I’ve learned a lot about myself and how I show up for others. I’ve learned that my coaching style is rooted in tough love and that I am a person who won’t let my clients stand in their own way.
I’m dedicated to helping first-time entrepreneurs break free of their self-imposed limitations, turn their endless lists into plans of action, and grow into the leader they’ve always known they were capable of becoming. I place a strong focus on mindset, habits, and setting goals that actually matter to the life my client wants to have.
Along with coaching people one-on-one and in groups, I love giving presentations on stage and being a guest on podcasts. I am always so grateful to share my stories and lessons about personal development, on finding the big lessons in small moments, and on my transformative climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. I am also an author, and have self-published my first activity book called “Stop Doom Scrolling”, which mixes fun and games with personal growth activities and journal prompts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There would be a mixture of getting out in the mountains to hike, exploring the small towns like Georgetown and Idaho Springs on our way home, and seeing some of my favorite sights around Denver metro. Some areas that I regularly take visitors to include Red Rocks, Flagstaff Mountain, downtown Golden, and Rockies games. I also love to take people to Linger for dinner and Sweet Cow for ice cream. We’d catch a show at the Fillmore, stroll the Denver Botanic Gardens, and probably go bowling or play mini golf at one of the awesome places downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to the incredible women that are part of Polka Dot Powerhouse. This is a global women’s connection company that I joined in August 2024, and when I say my life has changed since joining, I am in no way exaggerating. Since joining this group of women, I’ve gained tremendous clarity and momentum in my business and self-published my first activity book, called “Stop Doom Scrolling”, which is available on Amazon!
