We had the good fortune of connecting with Miles Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miles, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
If you have ever heard the saying, “My mom didn’t raise no quitter”. It’s true in this situation. Yes, there were many times I wanted to give up and do something else, but I made so much progress what was the point in giving up? It really came down to just going with the motions and hitting key goals, and I did. That’s what kept me going also my clients kept me going. My clients are a big reason they have helped me grow my business and helped me reach new people through my work. For anyone that is thinking about giving up. Don’t give up! It gets better trust me. Learn how to rest not quit!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most of the art I do I always try to tell a story through it. The biggest question I ask myself is “how will the audience see this”.

When I first started doing design it was not easy. I had a lot of struggles with the software itself, but consistency and patience. Helped me grow into the designer I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. So my favorite spot to check out is; The art museum. The museum is so beautiful when you arrive there is a huge trail you can walk where you can see some dope structures.

Another spot I love to visit is “The Pit” one of the best restaurants in downtown Raleigh, NC. If you ever come to Raleigh, North Carolina you have to stop by when you get a chance.

Cameron village is also a great place to visit it has everything to restaurants, shoe stores, jewelry stores, dog stores, you name it. Cameron village is just a beautiful place to visit, the people are always friendly, and it is just a good place to hang out with friends.

2 Campuses I love to visit are William Peace University & NC state university. 2 of the most beautiful campuses in Raleigh. Also, I always go by the Historically black colleges as well such as; Shaw university, NC Central, and St Augustine.

There is much more to offer, but you will get lost exploring this beautiful city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

First, my huge support system, and they know who they are. You know when I first started my business it was scary. I did not know how to make a sale, or how to pitch myself to other people. I just really doubted myself in the beginning, but my support system held me up and had to remind me that I am in control of whatever I do and that I can make things happen just by believing in myself, and my craft. Where I am now is due to my support system and I love them. I want to shout out my parents also because without them I am nothing. They spent a long time nurturing me into the person I am today. They have always had my back in these decisions, and have always made sure I went the extra mile for myself. I love you, mom and dad! My last shoutout goes to my partner in crime/ girlfriend Shiloh. I just want to thank you for being so patient with me during this process of making my business, and also for being so loving and thoughtful when things would not go right. You would always go the extra mile to make sure I stayed on my game, and you always make sure I am making the necessary improvements. Thank you and I love you. Also a huge shoutout to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am here because he put me here, and I am so grateful.
