Meet Miranda Deblauwe | Portrait and Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda Deblauwe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miranda, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose an artistic career because I didn’t really want to do anything else. There’s a lot of pressure to choose a stable track that can afford you a stable life, but I never saw a path where I thought I’d be truly happy. If I woke up tomorrow and realized I want to be a doctor, I know that I could go and do that. But for now, being an artist is what makes me feel alive and I’m riding that out!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My photography is an exploration of the human experience, captured through intimate moments and the small details that often go unnoticed. I am drawn to the connections we form—with each other, with nature, and with our own inner worlds. My work seeks to capture the rawness of emotion and the quiet beauty of life’s fleeting moments, inviting viewers to slow down and truly see.
People are at the heart of my practice. I am fascinated by the vulnerability and strength found in human connection. As an artist and entrepreneur, I would not be where I am today without all of the connections I’ve made throughout my life. My friends and family have my whole heart and the closeness we’ve built inspires me. Whether it’s a fleeting glance, a quiet gesture, or a shared moment in nature, I strive to show the depth and complexity of human relationships—both with one another and with the world around us.
Nature plays a central role in my practice. Whether it’s a sweeping mountain view or a city park, the landscapes and natural environments I photograph are not just backdrops but active participants in the stories I tell, reflecting the same vulnerability, strength, and depth that I find in people. Through my lens, I seek to create spaces where both the subject and the viewer can feel seen, understood, and connected.
I aim to create images that resonate with authenticity and invite a deeper reflection on what it means to feel and be alive. Every frame is an attempt to tell a story—one of quiet power, deep emotion, and shared humanity. My hope is that my work sparks a moment of recognition, offering a glimpse of something familiar yet profoundly moving.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take my friend up to the mountains to start! We’d pack food and gear for the day and head towards Dillon to hike Herman Gulch and then see a show at Dillon Amphitheater. On another day, I’d take them to City O City followed by a walk around Cheeseman Park and a pop in to the Clyfford Still Museum or MCA. The next night I’d host a dinner party at my place and invite over our circle of friends to hang out and play some games. The next day we’d head up to RMNP for a driving tour of the park and some hiking. On the last night, we’d see a show at 7th Circle and send them off with a bang!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my friend Rachael Walker, who was one of the very first people to hire me when I started my photography business. She gave me a foot in the door that has led to countless opportunities. Her trust and support has been pivotal to my career!
