We had the good fortune of connecting with Misty Pate, thrifter junker vintage hunter of Youtube and Instagram and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Misty, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I closed my brick and mortar antique shop after 4 years and needed a way to sell the excess of inventory that I had. I had a small Youtube channel and figured that I could try doing a live sale/chat to sell my inventory to my viewers. They enjoy to see the process of me buying the items from flea markets, garage sales, antique malls, and thrift stores and then bringing them to a live sale that is heavily chat driven. It has grown faster than I even anticipated. I am so passionate about my business and am as equally passionate about helping others try to grow theirs. Social media marketing and consistency is key in sales this day and age. Promote yourself and your brand and be confident in your skills and abilities and the sky is the limit!

What should our readers know about your business?
I buy, sell, and rescue vintage and antiques and sell them to a live audience. Think Antique and Vintage QVC. I consider myself vintage seller first, and a content creator second. Both work hand in hand, but my passion is finding items in forgotten places and bring them back into the hands of folks who will give them second life in their collections. The more worn and tattered, the better the story and item can tell. All things have a history and I love that these “discarded” items that some may see as “junk” still have value and charm. Having a presence on social media isn’t easy. I work very hard to provide daily content for my viewers and have 4 live sales per week. I am a one woman show and do all of the work solely by myself shipping over 80-100 items each week. Dealing with unkind comments and unfair judgements can be hurtful, but my passion for rescuing these items and bringing some joy and laughter to my viewers trumps it all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my area, the best place to take my friends is my local antique malls and flea markets. The people you meet, the stories you hear, and the massive amount of fair priced vintage and antiques is plentiful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my husband. My patient, almost SAINTLY husband who is the biggest supporter of my dreams. He may get frustrated at time with my constant working, but he’s my rock and biggest encourager.
