We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Not all flowers are created equal!! We are constantly creating with a living soon to be dieing product. Creating a vision with everyone’s dream flower sometimes is more challenging then what it might look like. Allowing creatives to use our knowledge to incorporate your ideas will lead to the best outcome of a vision. I do my best to give my expert opinion and design with the optimal dream in mind
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is in flowers. Creating bridal dreams as well as days to celebrate. I’m a quick study and continue to grow my craft and am able to execute large floral design or work on the fly on top of a mountain for an elopement. Divorced and with a degree that was not useable where I live -I had to rediscover what it was I wanted to do. I worked hard, listened and learned from some of the best in the business and managed another floral business for years. I learned an incredible amount there which lead me to discover the aspects that I truly resonate with. All three of my businesses bring parts of me that shine. Florals fill my creative juices and push me to new limits. My brides become friends and I’m grateful to witness and be a small part of their love stories. I love that I do pop up florals with a trailer offering florals in a more accessible way. Everyone should enjoy flowers as their beauty is fleeting!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in the gorgeous Southwest corner of this incredible state we can go from mountains to desert in a day!! Durango is a Mecca of great restaurants so we could go get a cocktail at the oldest hotel in Durango The Strater built in 1888 as the piano player tickles the ivories. Then get some housemade cheeses and meats at El Moro. A trip up the wemminuch wilderness by Pagosa Springs is a must! Ending with a dip in the hotsprings and tacos from Kips. And lastly a trip to cox canyon to see the sandstone arch and chase lizards and watch the sunset over pi ons and white capped mountains.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shootout is to many in my tribe- women who constantly level up my life. Candace for teaching me floral artistry tips and being my constant in set designs. Megan for her support, friendship, creative inspiration and sometimes pull me up by my boot straps kind of love. My kids and family for believing in me unconditionally. My team of friends Amber, Randee, Meg and Karlee for always showing up and lending a hand.
