Meet Molly Fish | Owner of Urbane Collective

We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Fish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me? That people don’t just buy products or services—they buy relationships, trust, and the feeling of being seen. Business isn’t about selling; it’s about connecting. If you treat people like a transaction, that’s all you’ll ever be to them. But if you show up as your authentic self, listen, and genuinely care, you’ll build lifelong customers who turn into friends—and friends who will go to war for your brand. Plus, let’s be honest, it’s way more fun doing business with people who actually like you!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our business is more than just a brand—it’s a community. From the very beginning, this journey has been built on the support of family, the loyalty of our customers, and the belief that shopping should be about more than just transactions. We wanted to create a space where people can connect, support local artists and vendors, and become more mindful of where and who they buy from.
In a world dominated by big-box stores and fast, disposable fashion, we’re here to raise awareness about the importance of small businesses, ethical production, and the impact of our choices. If we want a future where local, sustainable, and handcrafted products thrive, we have to support the people behind them.
Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy—it’s taken hard work, late nights, and a lot of problem-solving. But with the love and help of our family and community, we’ve built something we’re truly proud of. The biggest lesson we’ve learned? People want to be seen, heard, and valued. That’s what we’re here for—to create a space where everyone feels welcome, inspired, and connected.
This isn’t just a business. It’s a movement. And we’re so grateful to have you be part of it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs has a lot of local, hidden gems.
We would start the day at The Garden of Gods cafe for a brunch followed by pursuing the local shops in downtown Colorado Springs.
There would be a definite stop in Eclectico to find a keepsake for my friend made by local artists.
Lunch would be at Shugas where a definite must is their shrimp, coconut soup.
We would go for a hike in Ute Valley Park and end the day in Old Colorado City having drinks and playing games at Super Nova and dinner at Pizza Rustica.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
“This store is more than just a business—it’s a dream brought to life through the love, hard work, and unwavering support of my family. From the late nights of planning to the early mornings of building, they have been by my side every step of the way. Their belief in me, their hands-on help, and their endless encouragement have made this possible. This store is a reflection of all we’ve built together, and I couldn’t have done it without them. To my family—this is for you.”
