Meet Morgan Brown

We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, it felt less like a business idea and more like a calling. I’ve always known I wanted to help people with their money. Not just because I enjoy it, but because money affects everything. It’s hard to watch people feel stuck, stressed, or ashamed about their finances. I’ve been there myself. I know what it’s like to dig out of debt and slowly build financial stability, and I wanted to help others do the same.
At one point, I considered becoming a financial advisor. But after meeting with one years ago, I realized that path didn’t feel like the right fit for me. Telling someone to contribute a certain amount to long-term goals doesn’t help much if there’s nothing left in their account at the end of the month.
The reality is that most people are struggling with their day-to-day finances. Over 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. That’s where I saw the greatest need. I wanted to support people in the practical parts of managing their money — budgeting, spending, saving, paying off debt — and help them feel confident and in control.
That’s how my financial coaching business came to life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been self-employed for almost my entire career. My journey started in real estate — I was a full-time investor for over a decade. But during that time, despite outward success, I found myself buried in debt, struggling to make even the minimum payments on credit cards. That financial rock bottom was a turning point. I made a decision to get serious, dig my way out, and completely change how I managed money. That experience lit a fire in me.
In 2017, my husband and I started an underground utility company specializing in water and sewer line installation. We grew that business from the ground up — truly, with blood, sweat, and tears — and sold it successfully in 2022. One of the things I’m most proud of is the way we built that company: with integrity, transparency, and the simple belief that ethics matter and people deserve to be treated right. That philosophy resonated, and by the time we sold the company, we had more than 500 five-star reviews. Today, that business continues to thrive and now has over 700 five-star reviews — a legacy I’m deeply proud of.
That experience taught me that when you lead with compassion and do the right thing — even when it’s hard — it pays off in every way. And it’s the same mindset I bring into my financial coaching business.
Today, I work one-on-one with clients who are often coming to me feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and ashamed about their financial situation. It takes a huge amount of courage to say, “I need help.” I honor that courage by creating a safe, judgment-free space where we can roll up our sleeves and do the real work — together.
This work is deeply personal to me. I’ve been in their shoes. I’ve made the expensive mistakes. I’ve felt the stress. And now I get to walk alongside people as they rebuild. The transformations I get to witness are incredible. Yes, clients pay off debt faster and grow their savings — often by 10x. But the biggest shift is internal. They sleep better. They feel confident. They stop fighting about money. They start dreaming again.
What sets me apart as a coach is the combination of deep financial knowledge and real-world experience. As one client put it: “Morgan has a rare blend of caution and courage. She knows when to protect from unnecessary risk and when to lean into bold, confident moves. Her advice isn’t just theory — it’s grounded in decades of hands-on grit that leads to success.”
Giving back is also a core part of my work. I volunteer with organizations like Women’s Money Matters, helping women build financial confidence and independence, and I donate a portion of my business proceeds to causes I care deeply about. Community impact matters to me, and I believe financial empowerment should extend beyond individual success.
I’m a certified financial coach (Ramsey Master Coach, Plan Ahead Method, Financial Coach Academy grad, and a candidate for AFC®), but more than that — I’ve lived this. I’ve been in debt, built businesses, scaled and sold them, and built a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio. Everything I teach is rooted in experience. So, what do I want people to know? You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re not bad with money. You just need a plan that works for you, and someone in your corner to help you get there. That’s what I’m here for.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Gosh, this is such a great question, and honestly, it’s tough to narrow down because Colorado is just that good.
As a Colorado native, I genuinely love everything this state has to offer! When friends visit from out of town, I love curating a mix of cozy local spots, iconic Colorado experiences, and a few hidden gems that showcase why this place is so special.
We’d start with something simple and soul-filling…maybe a bike ride along the Platte River to Nixon’s Coffee House. It’s one of my favorite ways to ease into the day, especially if we can sit outside and soak up the sunshine. From there, we’d head into historic downtown Littleton, one of the most charming areas in the metro. We’d pop into a few locally owned boutiques, maybe browse some home décor or books, and then have lunch at Café Terracotta.
Because I’m a bit of a history nerd, I’d try to squeeze in a tour, either a Littleton walking history tour or something in Denver, like Union Station or LoDo. Something is grounding about understanding the stories that came before us, and Colorado is full of them.
I’m a huge foodie and a big believer in supporting small, local businesses. So we’d definitely eat well! Some of my go-to spots are Grande Station, Palenque in Littleton, or Lucile’s for the best Creole breakfast you’ll find outside New Orleans. And of course, dinner at Union Station is a must!
Depending on the time of year, we’d carve out a few days to head to the mountains. In winter, skiing in Winter Park or Steamboat is unbeatable. During warmer months, we’d hike or paddleboard near Grand Lake, which is stunning year-round. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to breathe deeper and stay longer.
For a bonus adventure, I love a day trip to Estes Park to visit the Stanley Hotel (yes, the one from The Shining) or heading south to Manitou Springs to attempt the Manitou Incline, which is no joke, but so rewarding. If we’re feeling fancy, a stay at the Garden of the Gods Resort is always a treat, especially with the unbeatable views of those red rock formations.
And of course, no trip is complete without a visit to Red Rocks. Ideally, we’d catch a show (bucket list-worthy, no matter the genre), but even just walking around the amphitheater and doing a short hike is an incredible experience. It’s one of those places that reminds you how lucky we are to live here.
Colorado has this fantastic way of blending nature, culture, and community, and I love getting to share that with people. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth, there’s always something new to discover.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have so many people support me on this journey.
It started with my parents, both entrepreneurs, who showed me that there’s no ceiling on what’s possible when you’re willing to work hard and bet on yourself. My husband has been my rock — fully supporting every endeavor, even when the path wasn’t always clear.
My sister has been everything from my sounding board to my personal cheerleader to my unofficial therapist. I genuinely don’t know what I’d do without her.
To my clients — thank you. You’ve trusted me with one of the most personal parts of your life, and I don’t take that lightly. Most of my business comes from word-of-mouth, and I’m beyond grateful every time you refer a friend or family member my way.
The Financial Coach Academy has been a huge part of my growth. The insights, encouragement, and community have helped shape my business in ways I didn’t expect — but deeply needed.
And to the friends who’ve shared my content, sent referrals, offered feedback, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines: thank you. A few names deserve a special mention — Peter Duffy, Emily Dritz, Dave and Megan Ness, Matt Kenfield — and so many more. Your support means the world.
