We had the good fortune of connecting with Nana Konadu Boakye and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nana Konadu, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I have taken a lot of risk in Life to become a Professional soccer player during my youth stage, I started my early youth career playing and training with some professional teams in Africa, Europe and American soccer teams.. I took the risk to quite a professional soccer contract in Ghana after i realized my path calling in life, to support underserved families and communities in the US and Ghana, so i started Kick2build with the help of true community leaders and builders. Kick2build mission and vision is to build inclusive communities, and affirming diversity through soccer. To embrace the values of cooperation, mutual support, and interdependence. Our group is multi-generational and welcomes all abilities. Our commitment to community transcends the soccer field, and includes social activities that strengthen our relationships.
I believe risk taking is the most difficult step in starting a goal, but nothing gets done without a sacrifice of ones pride. my vision of Kick2build and community building is a collective efforts from people who see, believe and understand the need of such to inspire our next generation. The need for such cause is always a working progress and depends on us all.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
*My art is using soccer as the center piece tool to create a diverse community to empower and inspire the underserved families and also creating a bridge between sports, culture, music, dance and Art. *What sets Kick2build to be different from other organization is that we use lots of different cultural inclusive elements that nurtures and inspire Kids, youth and Adult from all level of ability. *I believe that challenges is always part of the process, I couldn’t get to where I am right now with Kick2build without the support of my Board, community leaders and members, My success was a team and community group efforts.
*Some of the lessons I have learned along the way is learning to believing and trusting the process, nothing comes without sacrifice, Many people are wishing to get to success the easy way, success doesn’t come with a golden spoon, There is a saying in our African proverb that, if you want to go fast go alone but if you want to reach far go with others. What i want the world to know about me is my journey is bringing diversity and creating a cultural connection with sports, Art, music, dance towards building a stronger and healthy global community village for all.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a night owl, and would spend some time at places for music and dance. I love night life and community gathering places, There are few places I eat at. If a friend is visiting me for week out out state, we will visit some of the restaurants in Boulder for community food and hangout experience, like the Rosettas, Bar Taco, Curry and Kebab. we will visit The outback Salon for axe throwing, Kick2build Community adults and kids noncompetitive soccer gatherings, Boulder Reservoir, the sanitas for hiking and running experiences. Dairy Center in Boulder for Art and Music shows.
