We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia G. McGuffee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalia G., what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I became an artist because of how it makes me feel and how it can make others feel. Art is an amazing way to express ourselves, not only the for the person who creates art but for the one who owns it.

I love how art is always transmitting a message and awaking emotions in others – that is the goal I have with each of my paintings. More than selling just for selling I create with a purpose. Every painting I make is made with the purpose that people can find a connection: a memory of a place they visited, a place they dream to go, or any other reason that makes them smile when they look at it. With my work, I want people to be able to show an expression of themselves through the piece they choose to have in their home or workspace.

Places where there’s art feel more welcoming and inviting and at the same time help people feel better internally. We all deserve to feel that, which is why I am constantly creating pieces inspired by the beauty of travel and nature ready to give any space a happy and vibrant energy full of color.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my travels, my stories and a reflection of me that I want to share with others! Painting gives me a lot of inner peace and it’s how I feel the most connected to the present moment.

My career as an artist started in 2021, but the idea had been there for a few years. Before I launched my website, I spent months learning and planning what today is Natalia McGuffee Art. I started by reading, researching, and trying to learn more about logistics, marketing, design, etc. Luckily, I have a business background that today plays a big part in this process.

For a long time, I kept thinking I wanted to share my work with others, but I would get stopped by some thoughts of fear and insecurity like, “what if it doesn’t work” or “How do I do it all”. It took a long time to overcome those thoughts and finally start taking actions – I am so glad I finally did!

Sometimes we get so caught up thinking we have to have it all figured out before we even start working on the first step, and something I’ve learned going through this journey is that if you really want to make something happen you can start by taking the first step, and once you do, you will continue figuring the rest out.

This journey has brought me a lot of joy and learning. I honestly was so surprised at first to find out how supportive people are and how big the artist community is. t’s really encouraging to continue on this path when you have people genuinely believing in what you do and reacting in such a positive way to your work. I am beyond grateful for that and I’ve learned that there are so many ways to support others; just like you all do by giving people like me the opportunity to share their stories and work.

I am enjoying the process and I am very excited to keep seeing the growth of my business!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many things to see and do in Colorado! Here are some of the things I would do on one week trip:

– Hike and picnic at Rocky Mountains
– Go for a boat ride in Horsetooth Lake
– Visit the Cheese Importers shop/restaurant in Longmont
– Go watch a movie and grab a drink at The Lyric – This is such a cool movie theater in Fort Collins
– Visit Denver Art Museum
– Go to Red Rocks Amphitheatre
– Grab some drinks and appetizers in Denver Union Station

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are four very important people who are a big part of this journey. We have dreamed and materialized those dreams together, and that’s why I dedicate my success and my gratitude to them:

My parents, Orlando and Betty, and my sister, Jessica. They saw me as an artist even before I did and planted the seeds in me that I needed to become a dreamer. They taught me to dream big and to believe that one day I would share with others a reflection of my soul through my creations, and by doing that I would also be able to fulfill a little part of people’s souls.
Thank you for dreaming by my side.

The other person I dedicate my success to is my husband, Nicholas – My life partner.

He has given me his unconditional support since I decided to turn my passion into a business. Beside him I have been able to see and feel the world in such a beautiful way that gives me the inspiration that later on is captured on my canvas.

Thank you for materializing dreams by my side.

The unconditional support, encouragement, investment of time and money, and the genuine way in which the four of them have always believed in me, have been huge factors in being where I am today and being who I am not only as an artist but as a human being.

THANK YOU
