Meet Nico Galto | Owner/Co-Founder of Laporte Outdoor Living

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nico Galto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nico, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When Breanna and I (Nico) started Laporte Outdoor Living, our main goal was to make outdoor living accessible to everyone. We didn’t want to be just another landscaping company, we wanted to be more than that. We wanted to be a part of this community, your neighbors, and a business you can rely on.
For me, it’s all about integrity. We pour a lot of hard work into what we do because we want to create something lasting, not just in the work we do but in the relationships we build. I also love that we’re able to give back and partner with nonprofits. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we’re not just improving people’s outdoor spaces but also helping out in any way we can.
Starting this business wasn’t just about building something for ourselves-it was about creating something that benefits the community we love, and we’re proud of what it’s become this first year of being in business.

What should our readers know about your business?
There are so many incredible landscaping companies in Northern Colorado, but what sets Laporte Outdoor Living apart is that we don’t see our customers as just projects-we see them as neighbors. We’re not just here to build patios or install pergolas- we’re here to create outdoor spaces that truly feel like home.
What we’re most proud of is the relationships we’ve built. This business isn’t just about landscaping-it’s about trust, community, and making a real impact. We love working with local nonprofits, giving back whenever we can, and being part of something bigger than ourselves. That’s what fuels us.
Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy. Starting a business comes with its fair share of challenges, long hours, learning moments, and moments of doubt. But we’ve overcome those challenges by staying true to our values and leaning on our faith, hard work, and the incredible support of our community. Every obstacle has taught us something valuable, whether it’s the importance of perseverance, adaptability, or simply the power of genuine connections.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We might be a little biased, but if our best friend was visiting, we’d start the trip right here in Laporte, because Laporte is where it’s at. First stop? Vern’s Place for a hearty breakfast and one of their famous cinnamon rolls-it’s practically a requirement. After fueling up, we’d head to Lory State Park for a scenic hike, soaking in the foothills’ beauty before cooling off at Horsetooth Reservoir for some paddleboarding. Since we’re parents and not exactly night owls, we’d wrap up the day at Paddler’s Pub in Fort Collins, unwinding with a drink and playing some volleyball before calling it an early night.
Throughout the week, we’d make sure to hit some of our favorite local gems-Me Oh My Pie in Laporte for coffee and homemade treats, Howling Cow Café in Bellvue for a laid-back lunch, and skipping the touristy spots in favor of exploring the smaller, locally owned businesses that make Northern Colorado special. One afternoon, we’d take a scenic drive through Poudre Canyon, stopping along the way to take in the incredible views or even dip our feet in the river.
If they wanted more of the tourist vibe, we’d still keep it unique-maybe a walk along the white water rafting area in Fort Collins or a round of disc golf along the Poudre Trail in Laporte. We might even stop by The Exchange for a bite to eat, enjoying some good food away from the usual Old Town crowds.
To wrap up the trip, we’d head to The Mish for some live music along the Poudre River. By the end of the week, they’d leave with great memories, a full stomach, and hopefully, just as in love with our little corner of Colorado as we are.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate this shoutout to my wife, Breanna. She’s been my rock through this whole journey. From the very beginning, she’s been my biggest supporter, pushing me to follow through on this dream and making sure we stay grounded in our values.
I’d also like to give a big shoutout to our community. The local support has been incredible from day one, and we wouldn’t be where we are without it. We’ve connected with so many amazing people and organizations who have given us opportunities, and that support continues to drive us forward every day.
Our faith has been a big part of this journey too. It’s been our foundation, guiding us through the ups and downs, and reminding us of the bigger picture. Without that strength, we wouldn’t have the courage to keep pushing forward.
And of course, I can’t forget to mention the nonprofits we’ve worked with. Their commitment to making a difference is inspiring, and being able to collaborate with them has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this business. They’ve shown us the power of giving back and how much it truly means to the community.
Lastly, I’d say the support from our team and customers deserves recognition as well. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them. Their trust and belief in us is what keeps us going.
