We had the good fortune of connecting with Nidia Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nidia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I strongly believe that God filled me with a lot of dreams, and it was my responsibility to take the first step towards them. Going into my business full time was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone, but at the same time it was one of the greatest first steps in my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a nurse, I have a compassionate heart that has always looked for ways to help people; this is what has led me to discovering the road to deeper healing of the soul, body and spirit.

I found these truths which really set me free in the Word of God, so I went after it, and I obtained an Associates in Biblical Studies, which is one of my most precious achievements.

Now that I know who I am, I am able to use my desire that I believe I have always had to help people, with the love of God, to be led by Him to produce some of the most amazing products, flavors with truly holistic heath benefits which is what Seventh Blends is all about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are truly very blessed to live in Woodland Park, CO. It is a place which is defined by the good people who live here and the ones who frequent it. In addition, we area city on top of the hill that is surrounded by woodlands and wildlife that is just so full of life that it just overflows and rubs off on you, and wants to pour through you to those that you come across through the course of the day. It is an amazing place.

I’d say that on a week long trip, we would take it slow to enjoy everything to the fullest, because when you just go go go, you really don’t have time to take it in, and this area in Colorado is most definitely one that you want to take in and let it marinade in your heart. I would start the day with a hike on red rocks trail, then maybe come home, and since I love to cook, have brunch there, and then go to Righteous Grounds Coffee House for a locally fresh roasted cup of coffee or espresso. Afterwards I take them on a drive through the serene mountains, and show them some more natural and historic sites which are just a short drive away, We have many lakes, and rivers, and places which have plenteous historic value, which has given way to our home here. Another day, I’d take them to one of our many ski resorts which are also just a short drive away and enjoy the day there. Going down the hill to Manitou Springs or Old Colorado City for a day of shopping, like at Stones Bones and Wood, The Olive Tap, or Buffalo Ridge Trading Post or any of the other great shops in this area that are truly unique in their own respect. Since I was down the hill, I’d take them to Colorado Springs and get another great cup of coffee ant Mission Coffee Roasters. From there we could have dinner at either of our many favorite places like Alfonso’s in Colorado Springs, the Historic Ute Inn in Woodland Park, McGinty’s in Divide or the Iron Tree in Florissant. Then probably stop by the Butcher Block and get some great meat to smoke the following day.
The one thing, we would not forget, but make sure to do at the right time, would be to take them over to Charis Bible College. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Colorado and is truly unique in its structure and in what is done there for the world and the community.

I’m sure that a week will definitely not be enough to take it all in, but it’s a start, I assure you, if you like the beauty of mountains and forest, there’ll never be a dull moment, even in the stillness of admiring a starlit sky, it’s just so wonderful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To my husband, a man of God, who has always encouraged me to follow my dreams, he is also a great part of Seventh Blends, a leader, and wonderful father to our amazing children.

My grandmother, was also an amazing cook who inspired me to delve into foods, flavors and how they impact your body for good.

My mother in law has also been a great inspiration to me in my seeking to make good things even better.

Upon the shoulders of giants, we see further, we get further, because we have done it together.

Seventh Blends has been all about unity and keeping the traditions in the kitchen, and expanding and expounding on them to discover newness in old things.
