We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Brooker Founder and CEO YANAM2M and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki Brooker, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When two moms took their lives and the lives of their children, we knew we needed to do something to support moms. We created YANAM2M (You Are Not Alone Mom-2-Mom) so that no mom ever feels alone or that they are not enough. It was a “call to arms” for all moms!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our nonprofit was created to make the world a better place, one mom at a time. We are here to support moms and make sure they never feel that they aren’t enough. We are available for ALL moms and want every mom out there to understand that motherhood should NOT be done alone. Being a mom is the hardest job on the planet and without the support of others, it is near impossible. We have saved lives, we have changed lives and we want to truly connect with all moms so that NO mom ever feels that the only way to “successfully parent their children” is from heaven. We want the world to know that without support, moms often fall apart. Without a “tribe,” moms feel inadequate, unvalued, and unaccepted. This can lead to severe postpartum depression and other medical and mental illnesses. We want every mom to receive the love and support they deserve.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado is stunning. There are so many places to see the beauty. We would see Red Rocks, Garden of the Gods, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National park. We would travel to the mountains and see the great Continental Divide. We would eat at places like Bacon Social and the Broadmore. We would go for hikes in the foothills and explore the canyons and valleys in Castle Rock. We would go downtown and explore shopping on the 16th street mall and end up eating chocolate at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. We would take a tour of Coors brewery and catch a baseball game at Coors field. It would be a glorious week!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many moms I would love to recognize for their efforts with YANA. Our six Board Members and all of our support moms have really made this organization successful. In addition, we wouldn’t be the success that we are without the moms who have sought support! They are the real heroes.
