Meet Paul Struempler | Creator with Echo-Terra LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Struempler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We were all really looking to create something that was completely our own, allowing us the creative control to explore and showcase what we enjoy. We recognized that we didn’t have anybody doing this in our area and yet the demand was there for more collaboration with local artists, musicians and festivities in the natural environment.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My own journey into the world of audiovisual production and events started because I was a musician. I’ve always enjoyed the arts and music but I’ve also always had a strong interest in the technical side of things. So it became clear after we did our first event how much I loved this type of work. It combines all of these aspects and more which challenges me and fulfills something I hadn’t felt yet, the ability to apply my whole being towards creating something wonderful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we’re talking about the Roaring Fork Valley as a whole, it’s honestly a challenge to visit all my favorite places in a week. I’ve been living there most of my life and I’m still finding new gems. The activities are boundless but I will always recommend getting a taste of each of the main recreational modalities. Getting on the river in a raft or on a paddleboard, mountain biking some of the trails like Prince Creek or Red Hill, hiking/backpacking up to one of the secluded lakes, and skiing/snowboarding in the winter. If you’re hungry in Carbondale my go-to’s are usually Honey Butter or White House Pizza. And certainly always keep an eye on the bands that come to play at Steve’s Guitars.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In the beginning we had a strong notion that the three of us had everything we would need together to create a festival and a successful company. It’s truly been profound to watch how each of us have grown and pushed each other toward success over the years. Trevor Swank and Auston Tribble bring so much to the table and only because we each balance different aspects of our business and strengthen each other we are able to do what we do together.
