Meet Phil Oliveira | President of RiseN Music Ministry and The Freedom in Music Project

We had the good fortune of connecting with Phil Oliveira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phil, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for The Freedom in Music Project came about after I became disabled from a Medical Malpractice! I worked a Full-Time Job and was the Bass Player in Stone Cold Blues. I acquired Lyme Disease and had to have a series of Blood Draws and during a botched Blood Test I suffered injuries to my left arm, Ulna and Median Nerves • LONG Story • I wanted to stay involved with Music and my Wife, Linda suggested that I do something with “Challenged” Youth with the Acoustic Guitar Program.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Freedom in Music Project is unique because it’s 100% FREE and nobody makes a penny doing this! Raising Money to purchase Acoustic or Classical Guitars et al, traveling to perform Concerts, holding an Annual Blues Festival has been extremely difficult. Raising Money has been the BIGGEST challenge of my Life. I haven’t given up even though I’ve wanted to. Usually when I’ve wanted to give up we’ve received a Monetary Grant or Guitar Donation which has been a God timing thing, Hah! I want everybody to know that anybody can change and Music is a GREAT way to express yourself and is a powerful tool for good in the World. I firmly believe that the vibrations from Music have the Power to HEAL! Amen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to my favorite natural spots, Museums, Restaurants, Art Galleries and Music Venues. Maybe a Concert such as we did with young friends to hear Bob Dylan!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, it would have to be my Wife, Linda. She knows how much that I LOVE Music and had the idea for an Acoustic Guitar Program for “Challenged Youth! I want to THANK all of the Musicians that have helped us as well. There’s LOTS of people to THANK that have supported me along this Journey with Music • “Bringing HOPE through Music to Challenged Youth!”
