We had the good fortune of connecting with Quinzel Harding and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quinzel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process starting the business was always about ownership for the hard work that would eventually build a brand to feed my family and other families. I started off working at a local trim shop here in the Colorado Springs seeing myself working hard for the company, and how much money I had earned them it was time for me to give it a shot. Out of my 1 bedroom apartment is where the thought process of becoming a business owner became real. I knew for my family to achieve real wealth is through building a reputable brand, while also loving what I did always made the business idea. I truly enjoying sewing so it never feels like work. I knew I had to make a reality to live my doing what I love.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My upholstery business started off in a one bedroom apartment, while I was working full time for another local upholstery shop. I got exactly to where I am at strictly off hard work and faith. Faith was extremely important on the journey to starting the company. My company was faced with losing it location numerous times, but every time God pulled me through. As long as I kept my dream alive in my head God would do everything to protect it. As of a year ago my shop was faced with yet another location issue and had to leave urgently. I was worried about it all day and night I gave it to God and went to sleep. I had found a location but may have been short on the money unless I sold a Iroc Camaro I had to keep this dream alive. Of course, I sold car and received the money and key to move in. Point of the story is that what kept me going I knew if I had faith, and I never gave up something will subside. This is what Supreme Stich Upholstery is built on hard work. All the way up to this current day we have not had any external funding it was strictly off of hard work. Going through numerous situations also showed me that when you speak to a higher power about a dream, you will be tested. That is when you as an entrepreneur have to pull that out of you and force yourself it may be uncomfortable but it get’s better. Just never give up and hard work will always show in due time. entrepreneur is not a fast game, if it is a brand worth building it will take time. We are in no rush.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I personally like to hike outdoors mainly nature is my rest haven. I’m all about a good pizza we would defiantly have to make that happen. I love to read so of course we would have to sneak a trip to barnes and noble. Car shows also I love seeing not only my cars I’ve worked on but just to see beautiful cars.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to give credit to my father for branding the idea of working on cars. He’s the one who was constantly on me when i dropped out of college to go to upholstery school. He has his own automobile service shop also which is where my love for cars began in the first place. Also read a book Think and Grow Rich by Napelon Hill right around the same time I ran into a stump in my life. Think and Grow Rich shifted my whole mindset on my outlook on life in general, there was a time in my life as I was working toward building your company, and it taught me how to be really mentally strong. Goals were always a hard thing for me to get accomplished, but this book just gives you the blueprint to getting things done. My mother also plays a role in my mental gain over the past years , also spiritually. My brothers also always step in to help at the shop, along with my wife Breanna.
