We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Lowther and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Colorado, a true native! I grew up with an incredibly supportive family and we spent our summers camping, fishing, and exploring the outdoors. I think this kind of upbringing led me to have a very laid back sort of way of living, that no job or assignment is worth getting worked up over, and we are only here for a short time so we should enjoy it! That’s not to say I am not a hard worker though, I work extremely hard at my position as an event coordinator, but know that my entire life does not revolve around my position. I know that in order for me to truly enjoy getting outside in my free time, that it’s better to enjoy the work I am doing than feel like I need a “break” from it all. I feel as though people in Colorado have a similar mindset about work, that if you’re not enjoying it, and you’re not doing what you love outside of work, then it’s time for a change. The position I am in now gives me the freedom to still travel around, get out, but also be productive, learn, and grow in my role here at the company. I believe my parents did a great job helping me create this sort of mindset and who I am today is a true reflection of my days growing up feeling very balanced.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am working for EdgeRock Wealth Management as the administrative assistant and event coordinator. I have had a pretty interesting path to the career I am in now, but I feel that I truly am doing something I have always wanted to do, and that is creating events and experiences for people to enjoy. I am actually really proud of myself for going for a career path that always interested me but was too scared to try it. This position offers me the opportunity to grow, learn, and create in a very supportive office culture. I have already learned so much from my time here that I feel like everyday I get better, more comfortable, and more excited to create special experiences for not only our clients, but also the smaller scale of our office staff and their families.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have so many favorite places in Colorado, but if someone were to come to see it all, I would make them come in the summer. I do love snow sports, but there’s something about summers here that feel so at ease. I also am a huge foodie so most activities will be surrounded by where we will eat. I would start in Golden, CO at my favorite, tiny, latin restaurant called El Callejon. We would take our food on a hike up Green Mountain with my pup, or we would go up US-6 to get some climbing in. I live just south of Cherry Creek so we of course would have to stop by one of the many farmers markets around town for some fresh food. A super fun day can be expected when we grab some drinks and head out to play some grass volleyball at Wash Park. It’s also super fun to shop around Pearl Street, grab a bite to eat, and meet some super down to earth people. If you put yourself around things that make you happy, you are bound to create some really fun memories and relationships here in Denver.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shout-out to many people in my life including my family, my incredible soon to be husband, and my close friends. I think it’s also important to mention the people who have decided be mentors to me in my work life. I have an incredible support system around me that I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
