We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramona Koon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramona, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always loved photography. I grew up with a camera in my hands. There wasn’t an event or a trip I went on that I wasn’t filling up my film rolls, or memory cards. As our children got older I decided it was time to fulfill my dream and develop my hobby into a business. Being able to capture special moments and help others see the beauty in themselves is an amazing feeling. Plus I love that I can create my own sets and get super creative in my shoots. I’m all about having fun and doing what it takes to get the perfect shot.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting a business is never easy. I’ve definitely had my challenges, and Covid has definitely brought on its own set of challenges as well. I just had to keep pushing forward, and follow state guidelines. I was a stay at home mom for years so going back out in the world and starting something new was a big leap. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who is not only supportive, but very patient. I started working under others, second shooting, and taking countless hours of classes. Finally two and a half years ago I decided to start my own adventure. I absolutely love working for myself, having full creative control of all my work and getting to capture amazing images all over this beautiful state. Since I have started my own business I have blessed to be published in 23 magazines, and captured so many moments from boudoir and body empowerment to weddings and senior portraits.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since there are lots of restrictions still, Ill go with what I usually do when guests visit. I always make sure that my guest experience the Botanic gardens, Red Rocks amphitheater, and if we have time museum of natural history. As far as food goes, definitely the habit donut dispensary, Fat shack and we also love Cherry Cricket. We are also huge Rapids fans so if guests come during soccer season we get them tickets to go too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am in my business today if it wasn’t for the trust and support of all my clients. I have been blessed to have gotten to work with many wonderful clients that kindly refer me to others, and have had to opportunity to work with lots of amazingly creative people in the industry here in Colorado.
