We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Ballast and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important lessons I have taught my children are to be independent, to explore and to think outside of the box. Independence looks like them expressing themselves without judgment; it feels like them having assurity that they have sovereignty over “Self” and do not have to live within the realm of my expectations, the expectations of others, or the expectations of society. Teaching my children independence continuously benefits them because they know and understand how they feel, they know what they want and need, and they have the courage to go after those desires. Independence paves the road to self-esteem and self-esteem inspires safety within your own being. Strong self-esteem is vital for confident exploration of “Self” and gives full permission for my children to blossom and think outside the box. Comparatively like my children each being I encounter is like a flower, there are none with the exact same patterns, roots, aromatic properties, or personalities and I believe everyone deserves to bloom.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am proud of staying steadfast on my journey. My journey has not been easy but it has most certainly been worth it. I have learned that I can help others understand that they too are capable of having what they desire. I have learned and continue to learn many lessons about my deservingness, self-worth, and value. The road to and through entrepreneurship continuously challenges you, however when you come back home to “Self” you realize that challenges only help you move closer to your higher “Self”. It is my hope to help others stay steadfast on their journey, realizing their full potential and worth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well obviously– Red Rocks, Glenwood Springs, and Hanging Lake. Boulder is bustling with good eats and cool shops. Denver has no shortage of incredible public markets including Edgewater Public Market Place, Stanley Marketplace, and Denver Central Market. These markets are nestled in some of Denver’s coolest neighborhoods! I’d hope to fill their bellies with yummy food, good drink options, and live local music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people who have greatly influenced the trajectory of my life and work, they are:

Charmaine Brabo | Charmed Life Wellness; Charmaine and I met in high school and she is one of my dearest friends, my son’s nina (or god mom), and is someone who I would consider a business expander. Throughout our college journey we walked parallel paths. My major was her minor and my minor was her major. We shared books, her partner would watch my kids, mine would watch hers, and we dared to dream a zillion dreams. We discovered our own healing journey over the years and one such stop on our journey was to Strawberry Moon Energetics and it forever changed my life.

Belinda Garcia | Sisters of Color United for Education; Belinda taught a class at Metropolitan State University of Denver titled “Curanderismo” and it totally shifted my journey, my understanding of culture, of spirituality, and the interconnected relationship of the two. It’s crazy, Denver is so small! I remember going to a seminar for class and seeing one of my future teachers talk about the Mayan calendar (back in maybe early 2012) and I would never have guessed that I would later spend 7-years walking/studying with the very same Mayan priest/guide from Guatemala.

Nataline Cruz | Strawberry Moon Energetics, Ancestral Healing and Sacred Teachings; Nataline is my teacher, my spiritual sister, friend, and pushes me to reach higher, she challenges me, and she’s literally been the voice to center me and bring me back to myself when I’ve been in the eye of the storm.

Don Miguel Angel Chiquin Yat | Mayan Priest; Don Miguel opened the door to a new perspective and way of thinking and it really expanded my view and understanding of spirituality and of humanity. I am so honored that he has been my teacher and friend over the last 7-years. I have to give him, his family, and the jaguar women in Coban, Guatemala a shout out because they have been working hard in the background so that I could have this opportunity.

I also want to give a shoutout to my teachers in the birth world, they are teachers, healers, story keepers and holders of indigienous birth practices and they’ve shared so much wisdom and tradition with me: Geneva Montano | Sacred Birth, Raeanne Madison | Postpartum Healing Lodge, and Pānquetzani | Indigemama Ancestral Healing.

My last shoutout is to Aubrey Bamdad | Yacumaman Sanctuary for Integral Shamanism; Aubrey created a container, a mystery school, that took me to Egypt in March of 2021. There’s something rather magnificent about traveling to other parts of the world, seeing the way other people live, learning about their belief systems, and realizing your truths. The trip to Egypt really changed how I understood financial abundance, freedom of choice, and the opportunities we have in this country to be entrepreneurs. I realized that the fears I had in realizing my own dream were small and inconsequential and that as Americans living in this time, space, and dimension we are immensely abundant. I had to ask myself what really was the worst thing that could come from going out on my own. And, you know the answer was so simple – it was that I would fail and have to start again. But, really starting again is just figuring out a new solution to a new problem but with loads more experience and wisdom. So, my advice is don’t be afraid to leap, to be challenged, to grow, or fail but rather dive deep into the truth that you deserve to chase your dreams, to know your own worth, to be valued for what you have to bring to the table and you don’t have to have it all figured out on day one.
